If you would like to submit a feature request to Apple (Apple reads all submissions), then you can do so here:
I‘ve experienced this as well and also find it very annoying. I suspect it’s an unexpecited side effect of something Apple did on purpose. Have you noticed that whenever you’re playing music from your phone, when you raise your wrist it shows the music player controls Instead of the watch face? I think they did that on purpose but I find that annoying as well.
Alright, just an update. I unpaired the watch and just finished pairing it again. Still the same issue. If the stopwatch is running, no matter what the setting, raising the wrist will always show the stopwatch not the watch face.
No, it was not working as you describe with OS 3 and earlier.
The stopwatch could run in the background without being displayed on wrist raise. It’s highly annoying the way it’s currently implemented in OS 4, 4.1. It’s clearly a bug, because you can set it to not display the active app after 2 min; but it doesn’t work.
It is a bug. I reported it under my developer license. I’m surprised that it was not fixed with 4.1 release.
I hate it when they break functions that worked fine with the previous version. Doesn’t anyone on the Watch team at Apple use the stopwatch?!
I re-paired the watch but it doesn’t help. I think this must be a bug (or an extremely annoying new “feature” like removal of the ability to browse the iPhone music library using the watch).
They need a “never” setting on the view last app. I have used the stopwatch and timer in the background daily for the last two years and have never had this problem until watchOS 4.
Solution: Get the free Timy app. It runs in the background and you can see the progress on you complications.
I have a developer account, and submitted it as a bug through the dev portal. They acknowledged it. Unfortunately that was months ago.
Thank you for posting this question. I just updated last night and since then every time I raise my wrist to check time the stopwatch is displayed. I close it, then again when I raise wrist for display the stopwatch again appears. This is not a complication I have on my watch face nor did I ever start a stopwatch session.
Any help on stopping this unwanted and unprompted action from occurring would be very helpful as it is extremely annoying to try to check the time or weather on default watch face and see the stopwatch.
So I am trying this as soon as I can get home to my charger. When you restored to back up, was it IOS 4 on your back up? Did you have to reinstall IOS 4, or did you choose to leave it without the update?
I’m having the same issues with my new LTE series 3. I use the stopwatch all the time as well as the timer. Never happened before. Now, if the stopwatch and sometimes timer is going no matter what my settings are it will always land on stopwatch when wrist is raised. Even if the setting is “within two min”
Any ideas on a way to fix this would be greatly appreciated.
Ah. The issue that I had was that the stopwatch was always coming up on raise-wrist, even when I wasn't using it. Your situation is different, in that the stopwatch is running. You'd like the fact that the stopwatch is part of the face to avoid bringing up the stopwatch. Good point, and it would apply to any face that's had the stopwatch complication added. Sorry I can't help more.
It is bad enough that if I leave the watch face running that has the stopwatch complication on it, I run the risk, (and have inadvertently executed it), of resetting the stopwatch on wrist raise anyway. I need to slide to a different face just in case. Add to this that the countdown timer can not exceed 23:59:59, and I can no longer monitor my work week hours. My wife works with me and is salaried, she used to ask on our 5th workday home many hours we needed to hit 40 for the week...I can no longer answer that question.
So my update is: I’ve tried everything I can think of. Even setting it to within two min. Nothing works. If I have the stopwatch running it will always default to showing the stopwatch instead of the watch face. Seems like a small thing to some but I have used it everyday multiple times a day perfectly until 4.0.
Now that you mention it, I havn’t seen the coach yet. I ran that stopwatch every week for 2 years. Clearly a bug or the decision of some pencil pushing programmer who hasn’t thought out the ramifications of a change.
