If you're tapping the buttons in control center, it's a change whereby tapping the icons drops the current connection but does not shut WiFi (or Bluetooth) off; to do that you have to use the slide toggles in Settings.

This is quite handy as you can disconnect from a current troublesome WiFi network without having to remember to reenable it later.

From the iOS 11 manual for iPhone:

Each iOS update gets worse and worse. I miss when the music player was easier to use, especially while driving and the iOS didn’t feel so heavy it makes everything lag. I personally feel they do this to make you buy a new phone every two years or sooner. Since Steve Jobs passed it feels like Apple has turned into another company just looking for that quick turnover money.

Yes this seems like step back. The ease of use of the control centre pre iOS 11 was great. Im sitting near an ‘open’ WiFi network which I need to authenticate to use (ISP dedicated AP). My phone automatically connects to it, disabling all network ability. How many times do I say no and forced to turn the wifi off through CC? Great, but every time my phone locks, I need to do it again upon unlocking as wifi attempts to reconnect. Of course I can manually go into settings manually but that is a unnecessary burden especially since Apple already had a great setup pre iOS. Please fix!

I’m so frutrated, I turn off my location, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to conserve battery. I do not have access to charge my phone during the day I work 13 hour shifts and since the change more often than not my battery is dead and I am unreachable.

Major disappointment with apple, this is not the only updated item with this update.

Without a return to the old way it will affect my new phone purchas in 6 months. I just cant have my battery loosing power like this.

I need to be able to text at the very least

That does not conserve any worthwhile amount of power. If power conservation is a major concern, read this.

We are users just like you are and threats like that don't really impress us.

This is by far the worst, unintuitive, most frustrating feature. From the flurry of patches for the new iOS, to the horrible messenger and notes UI, all this tells me the BS won't end anytime soon. The fact that I had to even look-up WHY my wireless services I've turned off are turning back on gives me PTSD of my Android days 6 years ago. I've been Apple customer since then, but between the new hardware design flops and the OS blunders, and after holding onto my iPhone 6S for quite some time in hopes that something good would come out of the woodwork, I'm leaving Apple. This was the last effing straw.

Description again, since you didn’t see it:

I walk in a downtown area. My phone attempts to connect to every open WiFi connection it gets into range with. Some of those require a confirmation, some are just crappy or overloaded. The affect is my connection drops constantly.

Plus, there’s this simple little control panel thingie. It USED to turn WiFi off, now it doesn’t, and the change has made the phone less useful.

Glad it’s working for you. It’s a pain in the *** for me, and many others.

9 paged worth, and growing. But you go ahead and disregard the complaints... pretty much what I expect Apple to do as well. Lord knows they never make a mistake. SMDH

How is that a solution? I listen to my phone constantly... how does letting my phone go to sleep helpnin any way?

Another case where it’s a pain... I work on the 20th floor. Most of the time, once I’m at my desk, it can’t pick up a WiFi signal at all, so it’s fine. If I head down for lunch, same problem... it tries to connect to every **** hotspot it gets near.

So how does your sleep option help me?
