If you're tapping the buttons in control center, it's a change whereby tapping the icons drops the current connection but does not shut WiFi (or Bluetooth) off; to do that you have to use the slide toggles in Settings.
This is quite handy as you can disconnect from a current troublesome WiFi network without having to remember to reenable it later.
From the iOS 11 manual for iPhone:
This behavior is also covered in more detail here:

I'm sure that's never stopped the students. 😉
How difficult is it for you to understand that is not complicated to allow users to have a different action on a button by holding your finger on it?
Your statement is the same as: How difficult is it for you to enter settings and turn it off by the slide?
Don't be this kind of person dude, if it doesn't bother you, great, why would you even enter the discussion about it then, I wonder? Your comment is just a little bit different than the ones that say: Hey, you're not obligated to buy an iPhone.
I bought it, yes, doesn't mean I agree to everything they do and I believe that having bought their product it should allow me to put my voice on whatever feature I see fit, because I paid for it.
Shouldn't I be allowed to complain about a product I bought then?
It appears that you already have, if you need to complain some more please feel free to. You can use the link in the previous post, that way Apple will actually see it.

They have a separate WiFi network. Someone over in IT is pretty smart.
Oh, it sure appears so.
Well then, maybe then I shouldn't complain about the next products I buy, according to you. How is that working out for you, btw? Are you 100% satisfied with all the products you were "elective" to buy? 🙂 It certainly looks like that.
And it doesn't seem like I'm the only one complaining about it, but not in any moment I asked for your help to address this or another issue, I just came to state a situation using the fact that the post says pretty much what I have.
Plus, limiting the focus of a discussion based on what was their decision or others seems irrational, if this is a discussion community, my statements, complaints or whatever you want to call them, should be allowed to exist the same way any other statement is.
If you don't feel that this is an issue (and I know you don't) I can totally respect your thinking on that matter, but I certainly cannot respect that when one's sole objective is to say something like: "Herp-derp, maybe you shouldn't have bought an iPhone then".
Frankly, this is simply childish.
PS. Thank you for the link on the Apple Statement < really appreciated that. 🙂

I'm certainly not 100% satisfied with iOS 11. I truly despise the new round buttons in the calculator. Also, I think the aesthetics for the redesigned Control Center leave a lot to be desired. However, I recognize that no one here can change things. So, I don't waste much time trying to have a discussion about it. I'm also not going to get angry at anyone who thinks that the round buttons are fantastic, best change ever. And, I'm going to keep it all in perspective. Life is way, way to short to get upset about small things. Unless, of course, that's your hobby.
Well, the purpose of these discussion forums is to get technical help.
If you want to complain about design features, there are myriad other places to do that; sites like MacRumors or 9to5Mac seem especially popular for that.
But that's precisely what I'm saying! I'm not angry that people like this feature, in fact I'm trying to understand how is it that having the wifi/bluetooth draining your battery doesn't bother people in general.
And again, this comment wasn't directed at you, it was directed at a silly person making a silly statement. Like I said, I respect the idea that anyone might like this or enjoy it, but then again, the title of this discussion is a brief of a situation that probably a lot of people are experiencing right now without being aware.
Say, like when Google was recording everyone's location and having a secret history of this that you could only see when you enter their page. I frankly disagree that ~they don't care about what you are complaining~
Assuming they have people testing this features every minute, and they have us testing it from the moment they launch it, unless it's a hardware change (which makes it physically entirely hard to work on) it's probably worth an evaluation.
Plus, this is a very big change in behavior compared to previous versions, so they probably should expect some storm over it.
Anyhow, my point is, if you like something, great, if you don't, great also. If you want to talk about it, why not? This products are designed also based on testing experience, so it's obvious that, at least to a certain point, there is someone watching what's happening.
I think you shouldn't give up on saying something in this channel or another just because you don't think nothing will come out of it... you could be surprised by the data they collect and what they do about it.

Because the drain is miniscule, most people have better things to do with their time
Never said it was a torture. I said it was aggravating. And it’s aggravating because they took what was a very simple tool and went backwards with it. Counter intuitive. I’m not going to die from it.
Well, not today, at least. It's 5p and time to go home. Also, the organic chemist who has the office three doors down might call security. Upsetting people who posses stores of volatile chemicals is unwise.

Looks like I started something. "Gravity. Not just a good idea, IT'S THE LAW."
Actually, I always preferred "c: Not just a good idea, it's the law." 😀
Also excellent, though a bit more esoteric.
Yes, it's true, I realized only afterwards there were other 23 pages on this. I saw only the first replies and the helpful answers. My bad, sorry.
But I don't change my opinion. It's a +1 to who thinks is annoying and not intuitive. As I paid a 5.000€ this year on Apple products I can share one my opinion, even if you like or not. It's not a big deal!
Best.
That is great for those that live in urban areas. I don’t. I live in rural Missouri and drive an hour to work. Meanwhile, WiFi is searching for networks draining my battery. So what about the other users that don’t like to Leave WiFi on. Oh, am I have unlimited data, so I care less about WiFi.
