If you're tapping the buttons in control center, it's a change whereby tapping the icons drops the current connection but does not shut WiFi (or Bluetooth) off; to do that you have to use the slide toggles in Settings.

This is quite handy as you can disconnect from a current troublesome WiFi network without having to remember to reenable it later.

From the iOS 11 manual for iPhone:

I definitely think it should be fixed immediately!!! It makes me feel like I’m being hacked or something. I can turn it off and it’s right back on. I literally watched it. I wanted to see what was going on bc my phone would go from being fully charged and then it starts to lose battery. So I deleted all kind of things thinking that was it. Nope it was my WiFi turning on and constantly searching for a WiFi to connect to!!! Can someone tell me how I would fix this problem or do I just keep my phone plugged in at all times?? I just don’t want my phone to die so quickly. I’ve read so many things on what to turn off and what ***** up your battery. But with WiFi turning itself on and I live next to a bunch of people that has WiFi so it searches none stop. Any suggestions please share

I might sound like a hypocrite now due to this response and I guess I am because I googled it to make sure. ; )

This is an Apple community help page and you had to turn it into something else with your response because the way someone typed and it bothered you... I knew my all caps was going to get a response from a prescriptive grammarian. Do you annoy and infuriate people at social gatherings by correcting others on how they use or pronounce certain words? Sorry that my "informal writing" caused you to respond with a smarta** comment due to your linguistic prescriptivism. I just wanted to be heard, my intention was not what you and articles on google think and label it as. YOU might think it is rude just because google said so, but I see it as an emotional state, showing frustration that I was expressing, but google doesn't say that so don't listen to me. No one knows what is correct until an article on google says so, right? You might also consider searching Google for "language bully ".

Is this better:

From the control center, it was a quick and easy way to toggle wifi, and now there is another extra step to do so. There are alot of people that have not realized this change with wifi turning back on automatically and drains battery.

Settting is 2 or 3 steps futher than control center..

It would be a good answer if apple didnt provide wifi feature on and off in de control centre at the previous IOS update, but now it is a set back...

Siri is a good idea, I will try it...

Another option to get right away to menu “setting” , is to swipe briefly downwards from any home page.. (at least using apple 10 it is)... Still not as good as swiping from anywhere to “center control”

And what I dint really understand is why apple or are they apple defenders has to be so bloody defensif about any critics said about this issue... I thought that this community is created for that purpose...

Also before anybody complains, excuse my many typo’s, I am a senior (not A KID !!!), the fonts are so tiny small, and I havent find it yet where I can change it.....

Huge difference between explaining and defending.

You have been told how to offer your criticism. Repeating to us how unhappy you are is pointless.

You pushed back when it was explained and continue to dispute the reality now.

I haven't seen anyone remark about your typing prowess. It's your reluctance to accept an explanation that is being reacted to.

That you can control.
