Is there a way to hide the dock in iOS 11?

The capability is, of course, available in OS X.

Thanks.

First remove any items from the dock by holding on them for a few seconds and dragging them onto the screen.

Swipe as far right as you can until you get to the widgets page. Press the home button, & as the screen starts to slide left to the home page, swipe with your finger right to left. May take a few attempts, but when you get it right you'll notice the dock has gone on the home page.

Actually, it's always been there. I have an iPhone 1 and and iPad 1 and they both have a "dock". As you indicated, it looked a bit different (like a shelf that the icons sat on), but it was there from the start. Here is a screenshot of my iPad 1 running iOS 5.1.1:

And here is a photo of an iPhone 1 screen (I didn't want to have to power mine up - it takes awhile 😐):

Sorry, but Apple isn't "forcing" anything down your throat. As the screenshots I posted show, this is an integral part of the iOS design and has always been. If you don't like the way something is designed, then why would you purchase it to begin with? A dock has been on iOS devices since the inception of the original iPhone, so not sure what you are even talking about.

How about I choose it as an option if I want to use it or not. Not the usual apple way and force it down your throat. I find it annoying. I don’t need to multi task. Apple is just like religions, their is right and everything else is wrong. Thank god I bought a Samsung phone, it lets me have OPTIONS !!!!!!

Yup,

And to provide some nifty “hidden options”, like a battery capable of burning up your apartment, house or automobile.

Awesome!

The Dock works as it always has for 4 generations of iOS!

It has just been expanded and holds more apps!

I really, REALLY do not understand this very small minority of users, represented here in these support communities, have so much disdain for a feature that has been with iOS for 4 FULL iOS iterations and will, in all probability, still be with us in iOS 12!!!

Learn to find uses for the Dock that works for YOU!

The large majority of the iOS using community has no issues putting the Dock to their own personal use and preferences.

Thanks for the reply but not the answer I’m hoping to find.I was wanting to know if it’s possible to hide the dock at the bottom of the screen, the stripe that holds the few apps at the bottom of the homescreen and are always visible in whatever homescreen your on because it’s really annoying from my point of view.I know it’s a good way to have your most used or favourite apps always visible and easier to access but I was wanting to know if it is possible to get rid of it all together and just have another line of apps at the bottom of the page

i HATE doc in ios. i HATE the way this NONSENSE thing appears and makes mess. i HATE that these nonsense screens go off and come alove when accodentially screen is touched. the user interface of new ios is TOTAL garbage. i want to get rid of this GARBGE PEST DOC and it is not posssible. someone said move things out and move to right... it is NOSENSE. that useless FAKE solution does not work. i HATE apple and these GARBAGE inventions that does not let me get rid of it. ios has become a GARBAGE like windows. all nonsense things that you have to spend time to get rid of them.
