Is there a way to hide the dock in iOS 11?
The capability is, of course, available in OS X.
Thanks.

pressing the home button either activates siri or asks if you want to activate it if you have turned it off. So that doesnt really work? Has anyone used this successfully?

No.

This was not at all helpful. I tried at least 2 dozen times and the dock remains.
That's because you can't delete it.

Uh,
This dock is a new version one of the Dock that has Always been a part of iOS, in this form, since iOS 7.
It just floats above the bottom of the screen, now!
It is the same height as the old Dock was!
It used to be anchored permanently to the bottom of the screen.
You could NEVER turn off the Dock in its previous version!
This new Dock STILL works the same as the old Dock did with some new features added for multitasking use.
Every one beeching about this has never used the Dock ever?!
You never used the old version of the Dock, ever?
This new Dock just holds many more apps and folders of app now and offers a more targeted way to setup apps for multitasking, too!
My Dock is filled with apps and folders of apps!
You can turn off the recently used section of the Dock by going into Settings Dock and TURN OFF show recently used and suggested apps.
The space it takes up is still there, but it will stay empty, now.
The only issue with the new Dock is that sometimes it interferes with some games that have its controls along the bottom of the screen. Sometimes playing the game controls will inadvertently bring up the Dock or Control Center, by mistake.
When you updated to iOS 11.2, did you tried a hard reset of your iPad by holding down both the Home and sleep/wake buttons simultaneously until your iPad goes to black and restarts with Apple logo, then release the buttons?
Sell it, if the new Dock is a huge issue for you.
No one here cares what you do.
All this hate for a feature that is actually designed to be better and more powerful!
Do what you will.
