Email slow to load in mail app with iOS 11

After updating to iOS 11 my emails are taking a long time to load after they come in. The preview shows, but when I select the new message it just says loading for a long time. I am even having to leave the message and come back a few times.

This is on my exhange account with push.

Anyone else seeing this?

Maybe there's a common security, or other patch/update that started around the time of iOS 11 first being released. And your MacPro finally got that common update?

As an IT professional for over 30 years, I have 100% conviction in believing that iOS 11.x is the root cause of this problem. The day that I upgraded my iPhone 6s from 10.x to 11.x, the problem with Apple's Mail being slow to load content (often just displaying "LOADING" for minutes) reared its ugly head. I purposely held off updating my iPad for several months after updating my iPhone. Once I found a good alternative email program (Microsoft's Outlook for iOS) that worked reliably on my iPhone, I then finally let my iPad update to 11.x. And guess what - immediately the Apple Mail program became unusable because of the long "LOADING" times... One doesn't need any more proof than that, right?

Again, it may not specifically be iOS 11.x that's the cause - it could be a security or other update - but it would have to be an update that is only pushed out to iOS 11.x devices...

I just ran the latest updates to my MacBook iMac, watch and iPad Pro and iPhone 8Plus. Email is a mess. Deleted emails don't delete. Takes forever to download emails (Google and iCloud) on all of my devices. I have used Apple since the 1984 Macintosh came out. I am to a point that I hate turning on any of these devices. It is horrible. Sometimes short form of email comes up but when you open the message, loading starts and may take a minute or much longer. Not usable.

Used a call to Mac Support and after getting transferred when first person couldn't help me, a supervisor thought she solved the problem. Within an hour same problems returned. Would love to pitch both email apps but don't know what to use and how to save my archived messages.

This stupid software won't even let me delete junk and trash messages unless I try repeatedly. If I delete a message in my inbox, it comes right back. Ridiculous.

After reading all the suggestions and comments, it baffles me that Apple is not listening or at least acknowledging this issue. It appears that Apple development team is in total denial and the Apple user world is paying the price. We are a far cry from the Steve Job era when quality was on top of the priorities of the company. As a former IT professional, I wonder why Apple developers do not seem to test their updates before releasing them, something that has been prevalent in the past couple of years. And there is the obvious refusal to admit unless the issue is so big that the press media imposes reaction from the Apple company (remember The iPhone slow down?). I had a face-to-face experience at the new Apple campus customer center. I brought up an issue when my partner iPad Pro would not stop asking for a password every two minutes. The Apple employee was offended by my suggestion that it was an iOs bug since it was a new problem following the latest “upgrade”. He vehemently denied that it was an iOs problem, almost suggesting that I did not have enough knowledge to make such comment. Guess what? The same night, while trying once more to figure out the problem with Apple phone support, the specialist suddenly said that I was right and that my problem would be resolved the next day with an emergency upgrade. At the end of the day, Apple needs to return to high quality control that created the worldwide following of its devoted users who have made this company so successful. Short of doing this, there will be a steady exodus flow from the customer base to other solutions. Thank you everyone for all the research and suggestions, something we should not have to do in the first place when paying premium price for the product.

Hello everyone,

What surprises me the most is the total silence from Apple on this important issue. It feels like a slap in the face to the millions of Apple product buyers (Yes Apple, we are paying a high price for this and made you rich) who have created a worldwide community of Apple product and software solution users and followers.

I would have expected some communication from the iOs development team by now and I feel (like many around the world) that our fervent support has been betrayed by Apple. Perhaps, it is time for the major media outlet to talk about this problem, especially when competition is trying to give our preferred company a run for its money.

Today, as my partner was upset at her iPad Pro inability to load and display e-mail, I felt numb by the total lack of respect from Apple. You can be the richest company in the world but you cannot forget who made you that way. GE is learning this the hard way.

Apple has clearly communicated, thru their lack of communication, that they do not CARE about problems that only affect TENS OF THOUSANDS of users. If it were millions, MAYBE they would show up in this forum?

I wonder if they ever think about the COST of not participating/helping in their OWN forums? Talk about a PR disaster... I recently purchased my first Macintosh computer - a 27" iMac. While I like their hardware, I am totally under-impressed by their lack of professionalism - evidenced by NO COMMUNICATION to us in this post! So as quickly as they gained a new customer (which took over 30 years in my case, being an avid Windows user), they have lost me as a customer going forward in just a few months 😟 I will also stop buying iPhones personally, and will recommend all my clients stay away from Apple products - period! Bye Bye Apple!

Don’t waste your time with certificates. That only helped a very tiny portion of affected users. The Apple Mail app is unfortunately become bug ridden🙁. And Apple doesn’t have the decency or professionalism to respond in their OWN forums here! Instead, look for an alternative app like Microsoft’s Outlook for iOS...
