iOS 11 Auto Brightness

Is anyone else having issues with auto brightness in iOS 11?! Since I updated to 11, this feature barely works now! I’ll be in bright lights and it’s very dim. And in darkness, it gets way too dark. I saw multiple pages mentioning this in a Google search, though the problem there was that this has been going on ever since the betas were out for iOS 11 it sounds like.

I had the same issue. I realized that for some reason the zoom function was on. I know this should not have anything to do with brightness but when I turned zoom off, the screen got brighter and now I can even see the display in the sun.

Also, just for kicks, I turned on zoom and the screen stayed bright. Obviously a glitch but took me days to find.

zoom: Settings/General/Accessibility/zoom/toggle off or on.

Good luck!

I am in the process of reporting this to Apple and have sent in a video of the screen dimming. It does it randomly and is not specific to any app and can happen at any time/light/location. Techs have stated that it should NOT do this if auto-brightness is switched off (which it is and so it reduce white point, display accomms, night settings etc). At Apples request I have followed their instructions to run a sysdiagnose on my iPhone and have tonight sent that off to Apple for review. I will be getting an answer in the next day or so regarding what the issue is. They have already informed me that if its a fault - the handset will be replaced again, if its a feature - then no one is aware of it! I can keep you informed of the outcome of the diagnostics I have sent in.

Happens to me all the time. Last night I was putting my daughter to sleep and she asked me a question about a movie, so I went to look it up on my phone. Was super bright as if I was outside and lit up her entire room. I had been standing in her near pitch blank room for 2 minutes. You would think the phone would realize this. I constantly have the most problems while in a dark room, which is where I really would like auto-brightness to give me a dim display instead of blinding me.
