iOS 11 Auto Brightness

Is anyone else having issues with auto brightness in iOS 11?! Since I updated to 11, this feature barely works now! I’ll be in bright lights and it’s very dim. And in darkness, it gets way too dark. I saw multiple pages mentioning this in a Google search, though the problem there was that this has been going on ever since the betas were out for iOS 11 it sounds like.

I had the same issue. I realized that for some reason the zoom function was on. I know this should not have anything to do with brightness but when I turned zoom off, the screen got brighter and now I can even see the display in the sun.

Also, just for kicks, I turned on zoom and the screen stayed bright. Obviously a glitch but took me days to find.

zoom: Settings/General/Accessibility/zoom/toggle off or on.

Good luck!

My auto brightness on my 7 plus hasn’t worked since 10.3. Screen gets really bright when I’m in a dark room and it refuses to dim. I’ll turn the phone off and on. Turn auto brightness off and on. Sometimes it works, but too often it doesn’t. Nothing fixes it. And after I installed iOS 11.03 it has been even worse. At first I thought it had been turned off completely. Then thought the feature had been removed by Apple since they choose to bury it in the settings to hide it from their users. Finally searched and found it and it was on. On but no working. This really needs to be fixed. My wife’s phone constantly has the same problem. And seeing how many other people are complaining, it’s not just a install/reinstall issue. It’s a bug that Apple needs to fix. Hopefully soon.

I found the solution!

Try to press the side button multiple times and it goes to the original brightness. I did it 3 times or more and will call the SOS emergency call, remember to hang up.

In addition, I had my Air Pods playing if that makes any change on troubleshooting.

I remember I did it while in my pocket thinking it was the volume and I had the problem right after.

Now you know Apple!

But I relay on some of the comments in here, this doesn't solve other use cases where in dark areas, brightness is too high for no reason. (Me in the mornings is '20%' when I always put it at the lowest point when going to sleep)

Also, Car Mode should have it's specific brightness level.

Put that in your dev road map Apple!

I have same problem as IOS 11 ruined auto brightness on my iPhone 6s plus and till now in IOS 11.0.3 it doesn't work as it suppose to do as in previous versions of IOS prior IOS 11 especially when I enable low power mode which worsen this bug..Apple really lost its touch and every IOS update brings bugs more than new features 😡

The reduce white point setting has always been off. So it hasn’t made a difference. I’ve turned it in for a few days and still didn’t help. Turned it back off. Still the same. Auto brightness works sometimes, but usually it doesn’t. Using reduce white point has actually helped increase my battery life because my screen doesn’t stay bright all day long (since auto brightness isn’t auto dimming it like it’s supposed to).

Same problem for me.

I have an iPhone 8, and even with auto brightness on, auto brightness is not working. It works only the first seconds I turn off and then turn on back the "auto brightness" switch in the accessibility menu.

This is a very annoying problem. I would like to know if this is a software problem or an hardware problem. I don't know if i have to bring my iPhone to an apple store for a check.

Hie,

I am also having the same problem after updating to ios 11.2.., previously it was working fi9 for me, I have tried almost all the solutions, but the issue remains the same.

My working is mostly outside and under bright sunlight due to this problem I had to switch brightness several times which drains battery a lot.

So, if any one have solution will appreciate that.

Regards.
