Weather widget not working on ios 11

did that also to no result, it works for a little then returns to same old behavior, stuck and won't update.

Updated to 12.1 still the same beahavior so I used the feedback app to report the problem to Apple.

I tried the latest solution suggested in this thread, deleting and re-installing the Weather app with location services always on. Still doesn't update on my iPhone 8 Plus. I have filed a report about this with Apple (twice) at apple.com/feedback . It is disappointing that Apple does not find a way to acknowledge it is aware of a bug like this. Apple should monitor discussions such as this and should also send acknowledgements of product feedback notifications. This seems like a decision not to invest enough in customer service

I was experiencing a similar issue with the weather widget on iPad. Location permissions were set to always: changing them to another setting and then immediately changing them back unstuck whatever was stuck, and updates resumed.

Agreed. Through 11.1 my widget screen on an 8 Plus had numerous bugs. The Weather widget issue persists. Assessment? Apple is so busy with iOS 11 bugs — my daughter’s 6 still runs very poorly — and iOS 11.2 that the Weather widget problem can't get attention.

As a now frequent occurrence, neither the app from The Weather Channel nor the app from Dark Sky properly update temperature — in various improper ways, which makes me wonder exactly where the problem lies.

I had the same issue since iOS 11 update but what worked for me was to reset privacy and location to factory settings on my iPhone. So just go to settings->general->restet->location and privacy.

What's also sad is that Apple 1) apparently doesn't monitor discussions such as this; 2) states that it will not respond when issues such as this one are posted to its feedback sites; and 3) has no apparent method of acknowledging that it is aware such issues exist. This, in my view, is arrogance toward the customer.

What is really strange is the fact that it works just fine on my wife's iPhone 6s.

Her iPhone is also updated with latest iOS 11.1.1 and the widget always worked for her with no issue.

So where is the problem then? Why would it work on some phones while not on others. I would not like to reset my phone totaly to factory settings to see if it works on a clean one as it is a lot of wasted time but I am just curious if that would change anything. Anyone of you maybe checked that?

i tried tweeting iDevicehelp, it's a youtuber who has had some success reporting issues in iOS and getting them resolved by Apple.

I encourage everyone to try, since apple is not paying attention to the feedback being sent by us.

In iOS 10 the weather widget did not need the location services active to update...

Even with location services ‘always on’ for weather app, the widget doesn’t update at the same time of the app, so most of the times the temperatures of the app and the widget do not match...

obviously something is wrong... it’s like there are two different apps...

Thanks, delete and reinstall appears to have fixed issue for me as well. This issue is strange, only happened on iPhone X and not iPad Mini 2 and think it started with last update, which ironically I didn’t really need because didn’t have problem that was trying to resolve!

Just for others, my Weather Notification wasn’t completely none responsive, it sometimes updated but other times it just seemed “stuck” and would remain like that for hours. Removing Weather from Notification Centre and then add it back would force it to update but that didn’t last.

Will report back in a few days but so far all ok, I now notice when opening Notification Centre that the Weather Widget "blinks" slightly as though it's checking for latest info, this didn't happen before the reinstall.

Just a general observation, I've always been a firm believer of doing any iOS update via iTunes, which installs the complete OS followed by importing your chosen BackUp, it's just given less issues than doing the "Over the Air" method. This time with the new iPhone I let it update itself (twice) which with hindsight could have been a mistake, my iPad which was done via iTunes hasn't shown such issue regarding the Weather widget.

I haven't read the entire post yet but you could try (if still having issues) restoring your device via iTunes and bring back your settings by importing a BackUp (just make sure it's an encrypted BackUp because that contains most info).

Lastly, when reinstalling Weather app earlier I didn't delete via Home screen but instead went to Settings/iPhone Storage and removed it from there - not sure if that makes any difference or not.

Been at this since 11.0:

Reset all settings

Uninstall / reinstall app

Wipe phone clean

Tried everything I could think of

No permanent fix: updates did work for a short time, after each fix, but non-updating (usually tempature, sometimes location) returned.

The anything unusual I noticed in all these processes, when resetting the settings and uninstalling and reinstalling installing the app, was with the Apple Watch, which no longer would show the weather. The watch app on the phone woushow the weather app as installed, but the watch showed it not installed. Watch and phone had to be re-paired.

Lets hope others do same so issue gets elevated, if Apple are aware they usually respond by replying that the Bug Report is a duplicate of another, or they can request additional info if it's new to them - hopefully they won't ignore! Just can’t seem to solve this from my end. Most recently I reset all settings along with installing and reinstalling the app. This produced about 12 hours of working widget and then today as the day warmed to 64* the widget remained stuck on the 27* from the early morning. Very odd.

The only thing I have not tried is a wipe-clean and restore as new phone rather than from a backup. It just seems like too much work for this size problem, which Apple should fix on its own, I reckon.
