iMac TERRIBLY SLOW!

My iMac has always been slow but now it's become even worse and ‘Beach balling’ a lot. I use a VirginMedia cable for all my internet requirements and the Mac is impossibly slow to let me into my VM account. I've spent a LONG time talking to one of their advisers and she agreed about the slowness and they have promised to contact me again tomorrow. Meanwhile, I thought it might be worth trying within the community to see if there is anyone out there with an idea of what the problem is. Any suggestions as to how I can get the Mac to run faster would be much appreciated.

iMac (27-inch, Late 2012), macOS Sierra (10.12.4)

Try removing/uninistalling per the developer's instructions any anti-virus type apps you may have installed.

Try just turning off/disabling the Micromat Techtool protection just to see if that speeds things up, too!

I like Techtool Pro, too, but I have found tge Techtool protection interferes too much with normal Mac OS operations.

Just disable/turn off this protection.

You should see and feel an uptick in system response almost immediately when you disable/turn this feature off.

Clean up:

/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.nvidia.cuda.launcher.plist

/Library/PreferencePanes/CUDA Preferences.prefPane/Contents/Resources/CUDAd.sh start

Rerun Etreheck and under Clean up click on the Clean Up link to get rid of that bad file.

Bitdefender Virus Scanner: 3.9 (installed 2017-09-21)

Uninstall Bitdefender Virus Scanner a it's totally unnecessary and only puts a drain on the system and other apps that are running. Here are the developer's instructions: How to uninstall the New Bitdefender Antivirus for Mac

Today the iMac is even worse, to open any internet items it runs at a 'snail pace' because the blue bar along the top almost seems to stop then suddenly completes:-

Thank Old Toad.

I've followed your instructions (this time I've copied and kept them so I can refer to them in the future, here's todays report (the first two instructions i.e. cmd+a and cmd+c were easy but the cmd+p just took me into my PRINT programme and I didn't know how to proceed, so I tried the 'old' way cmd+v and this is the result). As you see it's readable but is it the right way to do it? :-

The stuff in red still needs to addressed.

You still have adware that needs to be removed.

And you have some issue with a NVidia graphics CUDA launcher preferences file.

I have Nooo Clue what do with that, but that is a system problem.

I would advise making a copy of this NVidia CUDA plist file and pull this out of it's current location and stick this on your desktop or home folder, trash the original, don't empty the trash, yet and try a restart of your iMac to see if this plist file rebuilds, itself.

I have Nooo idea what Yofitofix is, either.

Make sure that Micromat Checkmate software is NOT doing anything in background while your using your Mac.

If it is, stop any background running processes through the software.
