iMac TERRIBLY SLOW!

My iMac has always been slow but now it's become even worse and ‘Beach balling’ a lot. I use a VirginMedia cable for all my internet requirements and the Mac is impossibly slow to let me into my VM account. I've spent a LONG time talking to one of their advisers and she agreed about the slowness and they have promised to contact me again tomorrow. Meanwhile, I thought it might be worth trying within the community to see if there is anyone out there with an idea of what the problem is. Any suggestions as to how I can get the Mac to run faster would be much appreciated.

Try removing/uninistalling per the developer's instructions any anti-virus type apps you may have installed.

Try just turning off/disabling the Micromat Techtool protection just to see if that speeds things up, too!

I like Techtool Pro, too, but I have found tge Techtool protection interferes too much with normal Mac OS operations.

Just disable/turn off this protection.

You should see and feel an uptick in system response almost immediately when you disable/turn this feature off.
