IOS 11 upgrade and Renault R-Link
After upgrading my iPhone SE to IOS 11 the bluetooth connection with my Renault R-Link does not work anymore. Connection the phone manually sometimes helps. But it used to connect automatically.

Take it to your local Renault dealer and they can update the software to the latest version. Having taken my car yesterday I can confirm that bluetooth connections are now working with iOS11 backlink gov. Getting the software updated also solved the long-standing issue with UK speed cameras displaying the km/h value as mp/h. It only took two years!

Hi All,
I have been having exactly the same problem with my Renault car where Bluetooth connection is cutting out and then re-connecting since updating my iPhone to ios11.2.
I have spoken to my local dealership who have advised there is a new system update for the car system/radio.
I have since booked in to get this updated free of charge if within warranty. Renault have advised this is the procedure to follow as it has rectified instances of the same problem!
Your version is old. Till yesterday I had same version. My local dealer update me to new version and problem with bluetooth is solved. Mechanic said that it will be possible in november to do it by yourself with R-Link store - but it was not problem for them to do it on warranty now.
You have to restart R-Link. I read on French Renault forum this trick:
In the fuses box of your car, locate the one for R-Link. Remove it, wait a few seconds and then reset it.
That should solve the problem.
Having the same problem. I contacted Renault and received the following reply. Not much help i'm afraid. Hopefully apple can do something to bring the bluetooth connection back to IOS 10.3 as that worked perfectly.
Thank you for contacting Renault Connected Services Helpline.
You have reached Alexander Filipe and I will be assisting you with your request.
Although Apple iPhones are contemplated to work with the sat nav, the iOS version 11 has not yet been made compatible with the R-Link 2, I am afraid. In future you may check the webpage directly to confirm any device's compatibility. I have pasted the link here below for you:

(please click on "RLink 2")
Renault will need to update their software. Apple releases beta versions of iOS prior to release specifically for this purpose. Apple will assist Renault if they are contacted about it but general updates to iOS 11 probably won't fix the issue. If Renault decides to update their software then you would need to run a firmware update. If they don't update their software then you'll be out of luck as Apple won't do anything to change it on their own.
I just chat with Czech branch of Renault and they confirmed me that they are just testing new r-link update to be compatible with IOS 11. But they don't know how and when it will be launched. At least there is some work on it.
Apple will help Renault if they ask but the update needs to be done through a firmware update to the system so an iOS update is unlikely to fix it.
Do a search online for Android updates and car systems stop working. You’ll find that Apple isn’t the only one with issues. One of Android’s troubleshooting steps is to contact the manufacturer for software updates to the system.
Hi all, the iOS 11.0.2 update seems to have fixed this for my Hyundai i30. Seems like it was an Apple problem. Hope the rest of you have some luck too!
I also have the same issue. Ever since upgrading to iOS 11 my phone is unable to connect to my Renault R-Link interface via bluetooth in my car. The phone does connect but then drops out, reconnects then drops out - over and over again - rendering my handsfree function useless.
Removing and reconnecting the phone does not solve the problem. Factory resetting the R-Link software in my car does not resolve the problem.
This was not an issue under iOS 10. My phone used to connect seamlessly and stay connected. iOS11 has broken this.
And Renault or whatever company created the system didn't upgrade their software in time. Contact them to find out when they will be compatible with iOS 11. They should have been testing their software with the beta for several months now.
This happens with almost every new iOS release. Apple can’t go out and make sure that the new iOS works with every audio/Bluetooth accessory out there. Again, there’s a reason beta software is released and Apple will help any manufacturer that contacts them. You can believe that it’s Apple’s fault and they should be the ones to fix it but it’s not going to happen. The best that could happen is that enough people contact the manufacturer asking when it will be compatible with iOS 11 and they decide to fix it. Everyone posting on a discussion board that isn’t read by Apple or your car manufacturer isn’t doing any good. You can believe my answer isn’t helpful but it still doesn’t change the fact that you need to contact your car manufacturer.
See my post above - this is not an Apple issue. Many other phone manufacturers have the same issue when updates to Android are released. I provided links to other posts on Android and other forums. One of the troubleshooting steps is to contact your vehicle manufacturer. If the vehicle manufacturer refuses to do anything about it then there's not much you can do because while some people have seen iOS updates fix the issue it is very rare. Some vehicle manufacturers have already said they are working on fixes. Contact your vehicle manufacturer and find out if a fix is in the works. Posting here that Apple needs to fix it won't do any good.
I am not defending Apple just letting everyone know that nothing they do will change the fact that the car manufacturer needs to update their system. Renault has already told users that they are working on it. It would have been nice for them to do it while iOS 11 was in beta but at least they’re working on it. They could have just said “Not our fault” and left you out in the cold.
