Since iOS11 Bluetooth keeps disconnecting

Since I upgraded to OS11 my iPhone 6 keeps disconnecting from the Bluetooth in my car, a Mazda 6 2015 vintage. To reconnect I have to select the phone on my cars infotainment unit and off it goes working for a while longer until it again disconnects mid song. This didn’t occur prior to OS11, any ideas?

Hello Pathfineroz,

I was having the same problem with my Bluetooth devices continuously disconnecting and then reconnecting on the iPhone after the iOS 11 update. It did this with all Bluetooth devices such as my car, powerbeats, etc. I use my Bluetooth headphones at the gym and on runs so you can see how this was a huge annoyance for me.

Anyways, this morning I was reading some articles and came across one that suggested I should reset all networks. I did that along with hitting the “forget this device” feature. I’ve been using my Bluetooth wireless headphones ever since I did that (for a little over an hour) and voila I haven’t had any disconnection issues!

I am not tech savvy whatsoever and I didn’t read through all of the comments in this discussion so hopefully I am not being repetitive and I am able to provide some assistance.

Certainly no solution, but I bought myself a Chinese android phone for $150 just to test, of course deleted crap apps first.

In the end I came to a conclusion, why the hack do I buy a expensive Apple phone? This is just a Bluetooth and WiFi problem, how the hack is Apple testing, why do we pay that amount of money?????

Since Steve died, Apple is starting to be crap.

In the end my daughter wanted my iPhone :-) But guess what I've iPhone again and see wanted my Android :-)

So ordered a new one.

I have to say, I was also triggered by my son, who is buying every year a new Android, he is saying "For that price i've a lot more and if it breaks I buy a new one"

This issue of frequent disconnection is only when playing Apple Music through bluetooth on the car stereo, but all the other apps such as Audible work just fine. The issue has surfaced only after this last iOS upgrade to 11.0.2.

I have tried un-pairing and re-pairing my phone from/to the car stereo, but it did not help.

Please get this issue resolved at the earliest.

It's bad enough Apple forced everybody into using Bluetooth, but it's a **** Greek Tragedy that Bluetooth doesn't even work in iOS 11.0.2. Another annoyance is my text messages won't scroll if I'm writing a text. And what's with the clock showing the incorrect time? This is ********!

This better be fixed soon. I am eligible for an upgrade with Verizon, and I just might dump Apple altogether if I am not completely satisfied.

Hi there,

I’ve tried many things to get this working, the support unfortunately didn’t help, I tried re-connecting my Bluetooth device, it’s a Bluetooth fm transmitter for my car, km20 to be specific. Anyways reconnecting it doesn’t help, I tried turning off WiFi and Bluetooth completely, restarting then turning back on and connecting to the device, didn’t help, I tried resetting the network settings, repeating the disconnect Bluetooth and re-connect, still no good.

My problem is that it disconnects randomly, sometimes it takes 10 minutes, other times 40, I notice this since I frequently drive for an hour each day, and having to re-connect it is a pain. This wasn’t a problem with iOS 10 or a Google Pixel I tried, just with my new iPhone 8 Plus Bluetooth 5.0 with iOS 11. I feel like my phone is trying to kill off battery draining apps, sort of like having Pokémon go and a Bluetooth headset connected, it would stop Pokémon go and keep my music going. Just a guess.

Since installing iOS 11 I’m getting problems staying connected to my car Bluetooth and a Bluetooth speaker at home. It works fine for a bit but then randomly disconnects. I never had a single problem prior to iOS 11 and have tried everything suggested here and elsewhere with no joy. The 2 updates that Apple have released since iOS 11 have not fixed the problem and it’s very annoying to suddenly lose music while I’m midway through belting out a song!!

I started having this problem with my BT ear buds after upgrading to iOS 11. I have since done updates 11.0.1, 11.0.2 and 11.0.3 and continue to have the same problem. I've tried 2 different sets of ear buds. I've reset my phone, reset network settings, deleted my BT devices and repaired with no success. In an hour at the gym, I'll lose the connection at least 6 times. Never ever had this problem prior to iOS 11. Apple needs to fix it, and fix it now!

Just adding my comments to this - with my iPhone 6S Plus and iOS 9/10, had absolutely no issues with various Bluetooth speakers, Beats Studio Wireless headphones, various car bluetooth setups (Audi MMI is my usual). Flawless Bluetooth performance.

With iOS 11, the connection will drop anywhere between one minute and an hour. Usually during playing Spotify music, but occasionally during calls as well.

All devices will connect, all devices will play music or act as they should, and all devices will then get disconnected at some point, before quickly reconnecting. It's incredibly infuriating.

Has anyone found a bug in iTunes where you play an album and find the application frozen? In other words, you cannot go back to the artist and all their albums. The only resolution is get out of iTunes and then force the application to quit by double clicking the home button and swiping up the app to force it out of memory. Very frustrating, but the Bluetooth problem is even more frustrating.
