Since iOS11 Bluetooth keeps disconnecting

Since I upgraded to OS11 my iPhone 6 keeps disconnecting from the Bluetooth in my car, a Mazda 6 2015 vintage. To reconnect I have to select the phone on my cars infotainment unit and off it goes working for a while longer until it again disconnects mid song. This didn’t occur prior to OS11, any ideas?

Hello Pathfineroz,

I was having the same problem with my Bluetooth devices continuously disconnecting and then reconnecting on the iPhone after the iOS 11 update. It did this with all Bluetooth devices such as my car, powerbeats, etc. I use my Bluetooth headphones at the gym and on runs so you can see how this was a huge annoyance for me.

Anyways, this morning I was reading some articles and came across one that suggested I should reset all networks. I did that along with hitting the “forget this device” feature. I’ve been using my Bluetooth wireless headphones ever since I did that (for a little over an hour) and voila I haven’t had any disconnection issues!

I am not tech savvy whatsoever and I didn’t read through all of the comments in this discussion so hopefully I am not being repetitive and I am able to provide some assistance.

I have had the same issue with my iPhone SE, since ios11. I have done a factory reset, then restored, and none of that lasted. My phone will disconnect from my car if I receive a text or email message, and that happens within seconds. If I try to make a call, it will disconnect from the car, but my phone is still making the call.

I've spent many hours on the phone with Apple, and most of them don't have a clue about anything they can't read, or any idea of trouble shooting outside of what their logs say. I guess you can't blame them for that, but they are of no help with this issue.

I am of the same mind as some others, and even though my hardware is all Apple, it's easier and cheaper to change phones than cars!

I have this issue with an IPhone 5s running IOS 11.4. The Bluetooth device that won't stay connected is a pair of ReSound hearing aids. I paid a pretty penny for these and they are supposed to work as follows: with the correct setting, incoming phone calls are supposed to ring through the hearing aids, and pick up through them. Same with outgoing calls (of course no ring in that case). In this mode, it works like speaker phone except the audio plays through the hearing aid.

But it often doesn't work. On both incoming and outgoing calls, sometimes the call picks up but the bluetooth play-through-hearing aids doesn't work. Or maybe it does and then disconnects during the call. Once in a blue moon, an entire call works without incident.

Now I don't know whether the flaw lies with the hearing aid app for the IPhone or with the IPhone blue tooth implementation itself, but I suspect the latter. The only "solutions" I see offered are turning the phone off and on. I have tried that and found it worked. But that's not a solution. You shouldn't have to restart the phone multiple times a day, and anyway, how can you do that for incoming calls?
