Since iOS11 Bluetooth keeps disconnecting

Since I upgraded to OS11 my iPhone 6 keeps disconnecting from the Bluetooth in my car, a Mazda 6 2015 vintage. To reconnect I have to select the phone on my cars infotainment unit and off it goes working for a while longer until it again disconnects mid song. This didn’t occur prior to OS11, any ideas?

Also having problems since upgrading, but in my case, I've had problems with two different Bluetooth headsets. The connection drops momentarily, and almost immediately reconnects. I then have to press play to continue the podcast or song I was listening to. It was merely annoying at first, but reached a point where it was disconnecting/reconnecting every couple of minutes. Really a pain when running. Switched to headphones on a cord, but would prefer Bluetooth.

Hi,

I write down my issue as it is a little different but falls in the same type.

I have an Audi A4 MY16 with MMI touch plus and my iPhone 7.

In this car you can see the upcoming songs in your playlist no matter if it's straight play or random play mode, well, at least it used to.. I'll explain the 2 issues that i'm finding since the update to iOS11.

Sometimes the Song info do not update after skipping to the next one, and the displays of car are stuck on previous songs info. I can still hear the song, despite disappointement for wrong song infos shown.

Now since 11.1.2 is getting much worse: when i change the song in a playlist with random option ticked, it plays the next song for 1 second than skip to another song, and another again, and the song ordering of the playlist change all the times it happens. This is really a problem because it happens almost each song..

It is really annoying: i'm loosing faith in the "it just works" feeling of apple products.

Kind regards.

Mario

I'm having the same problem with a iPhone X running ios11. The bluetooth connects fine at first. It only disconnects - WHEN I GET A CALL FFS!!!. it then cycles through connect - disconnect - connect - disconnect every second or so until whoever is calling hangs up!!!.

At the same time I keep getting leave now to get to Cockleshell community centre in 7 mins messages from the maps app!!! I have no idea why, there's nothing in the calendar to set that location and as far as I can remember I haven't set that location in the past.

Something very weird going on.

Please help

I am also having this problem!

I have a 2013 Hyundai i30. Up until last week I had an iPhone 6s - this was working perfectly fine until I upgraded to iOS 11. Last week I got the iPhone 8 Plus which of course is iOS 11 and I’m still having the same problem! My car disconnects at least once on drives over 30 minutes long and I have to go into my cars Bluetooth settings to reconnect (connects straight away once reselected) - not ideal to be searching through while driving in the city during peak hour. Definitely an iOS 11 problem...

I have Bluetooth headphones though and no problem with them ?

I have changed my phone and my car, still have the same issue.

Iphone 7 since ios 11 was disconnecting after a call or two in the car, had to restart phone to reconnect, changed car from an audi to a lr4 and still having the same issue. now change phone to iphone x, issue is still the same, only now i can get away with turning bluetooth off and back on.

I have apple watch series 2 and tiles all using bluetooth and they work, its just calls on the car bluetooth that i'm having issues with.

I can take a few calls then the next call will route audio to the phone, i answer the call with the buttons on the steering wheel. If i select the speeker on the phone i can hear the caller, but it wont let me transfer the call back to bluetooth without a restart of the bluetooth on the phone.

Same issue with. Been trying to troubleshoot it but no luck. My iPhone X is currently on iOS 11.2 beta 6 and not working! My wife’s iPhone 6 with iOS 11.1 seems to be working fine (won’t update it to the new iOS 11.2 until I know the issue has been resolved! So bloody annoying. I spend most of my day in the car. Spend over a grand on a phone and can’t use it in the car!!

Really? I’m on 11.2 Beta 6. Bluetooth connects fine to the car, can make calls through the BT but anything else it disconnects repeatedly. Music, Apple maps or google maps, Apple Music, Spotify etc all disconnect - even as I type this in a car park it’s disconnecting and reconnecting but if I’m to make a call it will stay connected perfectly!!! CRAZY!

Hi Mark,

So after spending HOURS resetting everything. Started the Apple Watch and the iPhone X from scratch (where before the X was restored with a previous backup). Watch and phone all finished so I began the connection to the BT car :( Didn’t work. Still connects to the car without any issues but once I try and play some music, sat nav etc the BT disconnects and reconnects over and over. Am at a loss now :( Have tried everything I can think of! Even the iPod USB connection no longer works in the car - it lets you charge but won’t let you change to play ‘ipod’. Keeps saying ‘check iPod’.

Any help would be great

Am very jealous. I even went as far as using Reiboot software and seeing if I happened to get a bad install so got a clean copy and reinstalled and STILL doesn’t work. So annoying. I just want to listen to music in the car and accept calls!!!!

There has to be an issue as thousands have reported the issue!

If you are listening Mr Apple PLEASE fix my X

Well, I spoke too soon. The connect/disconnect problem is definitely fixed for me. I can also make calls, bot incoming calls don't come through my radio, and text notifications aren't displayed. I haven't tried playing music yet. I guess that's it. I give up. My next upgrade will not be an iPhone, and that iPad I was thinking about buying will not be bought.

I am having the same trouble with all my Bluetooth devices using iPhone 6plus since updating to iOS 11.2. Quite frankly every time I update I seem to have this problem, it did it in iOS 11.1 too. Also my music continually reverts to Shuffle when I want it to run through alphabetically, very, very annoying. Can’t understand why they have to stuff around with this!!

You can add me to that group. I actually skipped the 11 update until the 11.2 was available. Been dropping bluetooth on my Acura MDX bluetooth a lot since i updated. Sometimes I can listen for 10, 15 mins? Other times it drops every couple mins. In my case, the bluetooth automatically reconnects and resumes playing, but sometimes I loose the steering wheel controls when this happens and would have to actually handle my phone while driving to change a song, etc. I don't talk much on the phone so I haven't seen the issue happen with bluetooth calls yet. Its very annoying, particularly when using navigation apps like waze 😟
