Since iOS11 Bluetooth keeps disconnecting

Since I upgraded to OS11 my iPhone 6 keeps disconnecting from the Bluetooth in my car, a Mazda 6 2015 vintage. To reconnect I have to select the phone on my cars infotainment unit and off it goes working for a while longer until it again disconnects mid song. This didn’t occur prior to OS11, any ideas?

I had the same problem with my VW Sharan and it‘s „professional“ hands-free. I tried every update after 11.0. Apple support was not helpful at all, essentially suggesting I look for firmware updates for the car. As if the car hadn’t been working just fine until iOS 11 came along.

Anyway, after upgrading the phone to 11.2.1, I have not had any more disconnects. Knocking on wood that it stays that way...

Still have the issue, keep updating whenever a new iOS comes out ( although I stay away from the beta releases)

My log files are still with Apple 'engineering' and have been there just over a week. I get the impression there is a bit of a pile to get through. Hoping I get some feedback this week if only to ask for more log file data, at present I have no idea if what I sent was sufficient.

Keep coming across new poeple with the same issue. It does seem that changes in cellular signal has something to do with it when in the car.

I'm surprised this issue hasn't appeared wholesale in the tech media.

Also having problems since upgrading, but in my case, I've had problems with two different Bluetooth headsets. The connection drops momentarily, and almost immediately reconnects. I then have to press play to continue the podcast or song I was listening to. It was merely annoying at first, but reached a point where it was disconnecting/reconnecting every couple of minutes. Really a pain when running. Switched to headphones on a cord, but would prefer Bluetooth.

Hi,

I write down my issue as it is a little different but falls in the same type.

I have an Audi A4 MY16 with MMI touch plus and my iPhone 7.

In this car you can see the upcoming songs in your playlist no matter if it's straight play or random play mode, well, at least it used to.. I'll explain the 2 issues that i'm finding since the update to iOS11.

Sometimes the Song info do not update after skipping to the next one, and the displays of car are stuck on previous songs info. I can still hear the song, despite disappointement for wrong song infos shown.

Now since 11.1.2 is getting much worse: when i change the song in a playlist with random option ticked, it plays the next song for 1 second than skip to another song, and another again, and the song ordering of the playlist change all the times it happens. This is really a problem because it happens almost each song..

It is really annoying: i'm loosing faith in the "it just works" feeling of apple products.

Kind regards.

Mario

I'm having the same problem with a iPhone X running ios11. The bluetooth connects fine at first. It only disconnects - WHEN I GET A CALL FFS!!!. it then cycles through connect - disconnect - connect - disconnect every second or so until whoever is calling hangs up!!!.

At the same time I keep getting leave now to get to Cockleshell community centre in 7 mins messages from the maps app!!! I have no idea why, there's nothing in the calendar to set that location and as far as I can remember I haven't set that location in the past.

Something very weird going on.

Please help

I have the exact same issue. Devices connected to my iPhone 6+ disconnects when using bluetooth. Had this issues with all versions of iOS11 - currently on latest version 11.1.2.

I have this issue both with my 2016 BMW 1-series and with my Plantronics Voyager Focus UC headset at work - it's getting painfully embarrassing talking to customers using my headset knowing that I will get disconnected from the call several times.

I hope the issues will be fixed once I get my iPhone X hopefully later this week.

I have the same problem with my BMW X5 40e. My iPhone 7 plus worked perfect on CarPlay. When i got my iPhone X and tried to connect, it took several tries. Once i got it connected, half of the apps didn't function as good, sometimes my display didn't recognize touch. After 15mins my idrive kept rebooting with eventually resetting it automatically to factory settings and removing all my connected drive functions. I had to bring my car in at the dealership. They had to reinstall all idrive software and were unable to connect the new iPhone properly. They said that they had many customers with the same problem, all were iPhone 8 or X owners. All unable to get connected or work properly with CarPlay. BMW is aware of the situation but they say it its an Apple Problem.

I took my Accord in to Honda over the long weekend, and they have heard about the problem a lot. They weren't able to do anything, and the people they needed to talk to in CA we off for the holidays. They called them today and gave me a call back saying that they know about the problem and are working with Apple to fix the issue. They said it will come, eventually, with an iOS update, not a firmware update to the car.

Yes, I too have been having this issue with my iPhone 6s since upgrading to iOS 11.x. None of the patches seem to address this very obvious issue as my phone repeatedly drops and reconnects my Bluetooth connection between the phone and my Honda Accord's stock radio system (about every 15-30 minutes) and my downstairs home speakers. I also just bought a new pair of bookshelf speakers for my bedroom and connected them to my phone. Unfortunately, the same thing occurs with this brand new pairing.

I do have a Fitbit which is connected via Bluetooth, but without constantly having the app open, I would not be aware of how often, if ever, the connection is dropped and reconnected between the two.

I am also having this problem!

I have a 2013 Hyundai i30. Up until last week I had an iPhone 6s - this was working perfectly fine until I upgraded to iOS 11. Last week I got the iPhone 8 Plus which of course is iOS 11 and I’m still having the same problem! My car disconnects at least once on drives over 30 minutes long and I have to go into my cars Bluetooth settings to reconnect (connects straight away once reselected) - not ideal to be searching through while driving in the city during peak hour. Definitely an iOS 11 problem...

I have Bluetooth headphones though and no problem with them ?

I have changed my phone and my car, still have the same issue.

Iphone 7 since ios 11 was disconnecting after a call or two in the car, had to restart phone to reconnect, changed car from an audi to a lr4 and still having the same issue. now change phone to iphone x, issue is still the same, only now i can get away with turning bluetooth off and back on.

I have apple watch series 2 and tiles all using bluetooth and they work, its just calls on the car bluetooth that i'm having issues with.

I can take a few calls then the next call will route audio to the phone, i answer the call with the buttons on the steering wheel. If i select the speeker on the phone i can hear the caller, but it wont let me transfer the call back to bluetooth without a restart of the bluetooth on the phone.

I got the 11.2 update this morning. I've been out a couple times in the car, total driving time about 2.5 hours and not a single disconnect for me. Looks like it might be fixed, for me at least. iPhone 8+ in a Honda Accord. It's ridiculous that is took this long and this many updates for Apple to finally fix this problem. I don't know if I will be buying any more Apple products after this mess.
