Since iOS11 Bluetooth keeps disconnecting

Since I upgraded to OS11 my iPhone 6 keeps disconnecting from the Bluetooth in my car, a Mazda 6 2015 vintage. To reconnect I have to select the phone on my cars infotainment unit and off it goes working for a while longer until it again disconnects mid song. This didn’t occur prior to OS11, any ideas?

Hello Pathfineroz,

I was having the same problem with my Bluetooth devices continuously disconnecting and then reconnecting on the iPhone after the iOS 11 update. It did this with all Bluetooth devices such as my car, powerbeats, etc. I use my Bluetooth headphones at the gym and on runs so you can see how this was a huge annoyance for me.

Anyways, this morning I was reading some articles and came across one that suggested I should reset all networks. I did that along with hitting the “forget this device” feature. I’ve been using my Bluetooth wireless headphones ever since I did that (for a little over an hour) and voila I haven’t had any disconnection issues!

I am not tech savvy whatsoever and I didn’t read through all of the comments in this discussion so hopefully I am not being repetitive and I am able to provide some assistance.

Since my last post, I've updated to 11.2.5. I had high hopes for this! However, it seems that it has not fixed the problem ** randomly disconnected bluetooth.

While 11.2.5 is much faster (user interface wise), it still did not rezolve the bluetooth issue (and the wifi issue which occasionally does not work).

As I previously said, it is a matter of bluetooth in general, streaming music to cars, or bluetooth headphones, connected devices such as smartwatches, etc.

Since the problem is pretty random, I cannot safely say that the disconnects happen more rarely than 11.2.1 or 11.2.2.

Sometimes it works for reasonable ammounts of time, sometimes, it keeps dropping (especially annoying with music) every less than 10 minutes.

So far I have been able to identify that if all apps are stopped, the music (via BT) does not interrupt (this is my particular case with an iPhone 6S).

I was able to identify that while listening to music via BT and using Safari to browse the web, the interrupts almost surely appear.

As I previously stated, I've done EVERYTHING recommended from forgetting devices and reattaching them, to resetting network settings and ultimately restoring my iPhone AS NEW IPHONE thus losing every setting and slowly installing and configuring everything back (email, wifi connections ...others) MANUALLY !!!

I listen to my Bose Soundsport Headphones a lot, always have them on me, and had them prior to IOS 11.2.x. Never have they glitched once, in simillar conditions as now (same BT devices that I have now).

Also, I have tested my headphones with an Android Device, and an Iphone 5S running IOS 10.x.x for days at the time, and there were NO DISCONNECTS at all.

While this problem is especially annyoing with music, since it interrupts songs, it also happens with my smartwatch (though since it automatically reconnects in about 10 seconds it is not as annyoing, seeing as it does not affect a continuous process), and also to my Plantronics headset that I use to speak to collaborators and clients. In the middle of a conversation, BT just drops and they no longer hear me, and by the time I realize it has swiched to my phone, sometimes they hang up. Very very annoying.

I am growing desperate!

i Figured out the the Bluetooth connection to my car kit is stable when calling using WhatsApp audio! This clearly shows that the issue is caused by the phone and not by the carkit!

i have just provided a new log to Apple. the more noise we make the more pressure there will be on Apple to fix this. Therefore, pls call Apple support and provide logs and ask for follow ups. Also using influencers may help.

Where did I say there was "nothing wrong?"

I said the problem was not universal, and it certainly isn't as many if not most users are having no issues with Bluetooth.

I said there is some factor that makes the issue worse for some, and that only Apple engineering can determine what that factor is, which is why it's important that everyone experiencing this issue take their device to their local Apple Store for diagnosis.

I know it's frustrating to hear "I'm not having any problems" while you are, and that's why Apple needs the data they can only get if you take your phone in.

My iPhone X with 11.2.6 with drop connection with my 2017 Honda CRV approximately every minute for about 10 seconds..... then will reconnect. The timing is consistent although I didn't measure the intervals precisely with a stopwatch. The only way to resolve the problem is to reboot the iPhone after which it will stay connected. I have not identified what puts the phone back into screwed up mode but it is likely my Air Pods. If I reboot the phone and drive to work (30 mins) the phone will stay connected. While at work I use my Air Pods for at least 2 hours. Then on my way home....like clockwork the connection drops every 60 seconds.... which pretty much makes hands free useless in my car. The Honda dealer says it is my phone since when I reboot it everything works... which is certainly plausible.... but not certain. Feedback from Apple sure would be nice....

They will say 11.3 should fix the issue . If yoh still have issues then set it up as new . It should fix . Even engineering team not getting what is going on here . Its been 3 months i have been following up with this . Today also they told me that i should reset it as new phone . If that doesnt fix they have to service my device and i am responsible for service charge .

I have been having issues in the UK recently but recitified this by unpairing my Apple Watch and my phone has worked a treat.

Apple Care support are not interested in helping with this issues infact they tried to upset an 8 Plus or X.

Painful for me to say but my Apple Watch Series 3 is now being sold on eBay and potentially I will be switching my phone to Android.

Even when I told the representatives this they still didn’t want to help me.

What a waste of time
