Since iOS11 Bluetooth keeps disconnecting

Having the same problem with a Sony Speaker with my iPhone 7 in IOS 11.

Tried forgetting connection and redoing it, but same results.

My phone is 1 foot from the speaker.

It disconnects and resumes connection a few minutes later.

Really annoying.

Updates do IOS haven’t fixed it.

Before I upgraded to iOS 11.0.2, I was stream music via Bluetooth to my Audioengine HD6 speakers effortlessly for hours without a single drop.

Now my Bluetooth connection drops the minute I hit play in iTunes. I tried resetting the phone after many other recommendations, but nothing works. I think it is a firmware problem that needs to addressed soon or I will dump Apple altogether in favor of a device that uses the apt-x codec and reliable Bluetooth.

I've got a peripheral which worked fine on iOS 10 and below. On iOS 11, it's reproducibly disconnecting after 90 seconds without any reason. A network reset didn't help here.

Is there any chance apple will officially confirm the reported issues and fix them with the next release(s)?

Yep - I have an SRS-XB40 and it worked 100% perfect in my iPhone 7 Plus with iOS10. The day I got iOS11 it started giving me endless issues.

It’ll play OK for a little bit (30 min) if I reset network settings. But then it’ll start cutting out in quick succession until eventually it just drops completely and pauses the music on my phone.

Really disappointed in how long already it’s been an issue.

I've been having issues (on a 7 & 7+) since 11.0.2 with a Cambridge Audio G2 Bluetooth speaker.

Never had a problem before, not one dropped connection or bad sound quality.

After both updates were 'forced' onto my phone, each phone connects to the speaker but won't play audio out of it. Have tried restarting, forgetting networking, etc and still no hope.

iOS 11 on iPhone seems pretty buggy for me at least!

I am having the same problem with both my car bluetooth and bluetooth speakers. The bluetooth keeps disconnecting and reconnecting.

Never had this issue until I updated to iOS 11.0.2.

It's not the bluetooth devices it's the iOS.

I am quite sure this bluetooth issue is not a hardware but an iOS11 problem as I had it with my iPhone6 directly after upgrading to iOS11 as well as I have it with my brand new iPhone8 Plus.

Hope somebody at Apple is reading these posts and is going to fix it soon. It is very annoying not being able to use my iPhone in the car any more like it worked for years.

Same issue for me: iOS 11.0.3, iPhone 8 256GB, connecting to a 2010 VW Tiguan's handsfree system. Every few minutes I get a message on the VW display that the bluetooth has been disconnected, and then shortly after I get another message that my phone has connected. This repeats incessantly, and it's extremely frustrating. I tried deleting the pairing, and then re-pairing, and it seemed to fix the issue for a few days; then it started up again.

Unfortunately I don't believe that a factory reset is going to fix it. My son set up his phone from scratch, not from a restoring a backup, and in my Accord he has the same problem, but in his car with a Pioneer CarPlay head unit he does not have the problem.

The new ios update definitely messes up bluetooth on the phone. My touch5 works great on a speaker that my I phone disconnects from, replaced the I phone with a new one and I am getting the same problem. Both I phone 8 purchased new, on IOS 11 are having the problem

Same for me. 11.1 does not fix the issue for me with my car as well. The difference now is that disconnecting is much more random. It could be within seconds of connecting, or it could be minutes. Longest connection I have had was about 5 minutes. Shortest was about 2 or 3 seconds after connecting. Connecting seems to happen within a second or two of disconnecting, which is an improvement over what it used to be. Sometimes it could take a minute or more to connect again after disconnecting.

I have an 8+. I don't think apple is addressing the bluetooth problem.....and it's a big one. I know people with BMW's, Honda's, Jeeps, Porsche's that all have the problem with Bluetooth. I was even told by BMW that they stopped working with Apple 6 months ago and that they aren't supporting Bluetooth after 10.03. It's very frustrating. I'm on my second phone and it's the same issue but never addressed in the updates....and I've updated to 11.1. I'm probably going to downgrade to 7+. A friend has done all the upgrades and his bluetooth still works on my car. Very frustrating. If you do a lot of driving for work, it's difficult not to be able to use handsfree.

I just updated to the 11.2 beta and the music issues are the worst I've ever experienced, It is to the point where it works for about 1-2 minutes and then disconnects. I've tried completely restarting the phone and a fresh pairing to the car with a new profile and still no improvement.

I drive a 2016 BMW M4, have a iPhone 7 plus and did not have problems with earlier releases of iOS. The word is its a problem with the car but that just doesn't make since, the only change has been iOS on the phone, seems obvious to me. Those not on the Beta program having issues, expect it to get worse.

I've been a long time apple customer and fan of the iPhone, i use the Apple Music service, however I use my phone and this service mostly to listed to music in the car. Given that this no longer works properly I may be moving away from apple and their services to other solutions like Android and Spotify, which seem to work without any trouble on every car I've used them with.

Ok, so it isn't fixed. It stayed connected for about 30 minutes then disconnect and reconnect. It's better than it was on my car, which used to constantly disconnect and reconnect, but it is still a problem. Still no problem connecting to my Panasonic cordless phone at home, though, so there is that. Wish they would fix it, though. Never had a problem like this on my 6+ with my car. Maybe this is my last iPhone. As much as I hate Android, that may be where I'm going next.

I found a trigger for bluetooth disconnection in my car. Sat in the car for 25 mins with the engine running, phone connected and working no problem. Nothing I did would cause bluetooth to disconnect ( normally just selecting 'numbers dialled' makes it drop)

So in frustration I went for short drive on the same route it normally disconnects. Sure enough, after I got down the road about 4 miles the bluetooth disconnected. It coincided with the location my phone picked up the next cellular mast. From that moment on, connect/disconnect/connect/disconnect. Becomes stable again, then as soon as I select 'numbers dialled' in the car, the bluetooth disconnects again.

I've just uploaded diagnostic log files to Apple as per their instructions having installed some sort of Bluetooth 'profile' which I think deliberately targets bluetooth diagnostics. The log file was approx 500MB.
