iPhone 8 GPS problems

On both Google Maps and Apple Maps, the gps doesn't seem to keep up. The apps start up fine but once I start driving the GPS becomes erratic and loses me. Both navigation apps can't seem to locate me unless I re-start the app over and over again. I thought it was a buggy iPhone 8 so I took it back to Verizon (where I bought it) and it was swapped out for a new one, and the new one started acting the same way the moment I hit the road. I haven't used any icloud backups, I set up both phones as new iPhones each time I activated them. I also factory reset my day old iPhone twice before taking it to the store for replacement. The replacement (new) phone has the same issue. Help!

Just went out a few miles drive to test the replacement phone. Drove over a mile with the phone not on the magnetic mount and it worked perfectly on waze and apple maps. On the way back i put it on the magnetic mount and low and behold waze had red No GPS error and apple maps location was way off and wouldnt right itself. I dont think new phones are supposed to be bothered my magnets but thats seems to be the case for me. I know that some people on this thread have it happening when walking or on a non magnetic mount and i hope you find a solution but for others out there using these mounts, try taking it off. Im gonna buy a cradle mount, too much hassle to get phone replaced so User uploaded fileim taking the easy option.

This is becoming laughable. I know I notified Apple of this problem on 9/30 and they didn't take it seriously for another 3-4 weeks. Now, I'm once again waiting on a phone call for an update on whether there will be a solution while Apple continues to pretend like this isn't a problem telling people to just swap out their phones.

In the past two weeks I've spoken directly with Apple corporate about this, and every few days I get the same update, that they have no update, no timeline, and they'll get back to me in a few days when they should know more...I've stopped holding my breath.

I’m seeing something similar with my iPhone X. Using turn by turn directions I’m regularly advanced beyond the next turn before actually getting to the corner. Or sometimes I’m suddenly rerouted with maps thinking I’m a block or two away from where I actually am. Really annoying when on a highway and suddenly maps thinks I’m on a parallel side street. Hope that 11.2 fixes things.

Intelo2 I have a Toyota Mirai. I will try what you suggest and see if it makes a difference. Also it may have something to do with the Bluetooth connection to the car. When I initially got the iPhone 8 to replace my first X it seemed to work fine until I set up the Bluetooth connection with the car. Thanks for your feedback.

Hello,

As everyone here I am facing issue with the GPS on an iPhone X, my previsous iPhone7+ worked perfectly good on iOS 11.1.2.

Even after the update to iOS 11.2, the issue remains the same. For exemple, right now the iPhone X gives an horizontal accuracy of 32m when the iPad Pro 12" late 2015 gives 10m (in a building just near to a window).

Result of this is that navigation's Apps such as Waze or Google Maps seem to be always "late" compare to the true position. Therefore, in cities you really easily missed a turn, thinking that it is the next one...

It really starts to be boring to buy a device truly expensive and to face such issues that people with a much cheaper phone avoid!

Another day, another useless phone call from Executive Relations.

No fix, no timeline, no information. They actually had the nerve to try and tell me that "Well, it hasn't really been going on since September since you changed from the 8 Plus to the X in November..." As if it's somehow a separate problem unique to each phone.

It's pretty obvious, despite more than 300 people registering this complaint on this forum alone, and who knows how many else out there who don't use Apple Support Forums, they're just going to sit on their hands with this until it goes viral. And if it doesn't, they'll just keep pretending that there's nothing wrong with their precious wonderphone, despite probably thousands reporting the same design/software flaw...
