iOS 11 on iPad Pro 9.7 very slow

I got the iPad Pro 9.7 128GB for its speed and performance.

I got this device for about 60k and now on iOS 11 it feels like im using iOS 10 on iPhone 5.

it lags a lot. all the animations have a stutter. And everything takes forever to load. It’s not smooth. It is visually depressing to see a new device perform this way. Please find a way to solve this. And also please could someone else confirm if their device is performing in a similar way. I have tried hard resetting and also even restored to get the same exact results. Please help.

iPad Pro Wi-Fi, iOS 11, null

Other things to look at.

In Settings app, General settings panel, turn OFF Background App Refresh.

In Settings app, under General settings, Reset panel, at the right bottom of the list, Reset All Settings.

Also, in general, if you want a faster IDevice, on all of my iDevices, I turn off most of the iOS motion graphics eye candy, by simply turning ON Reduce Motion in Settings app, General, Accessibilty settings.

Make sure you aren't running scads and scads of background apps in the iOS 11 Control Panel/App Switcher.

If you are, you need to quit the bulk of these background running apps by tap and hold a finger on an app window in the switcher and slide your finger upwards to quit an app. You should be able to use more than one finger to quit more than one app simultaneously.

Also, make sure you don’t have scads and scads of active website tabs running in the web browser.

If you do, greatly reduce the amount of active website tabs your web browser.

I’ve got a first gen iPad Pro that’s suddenly slowed down since iOS 11 too.

Everything is taking ages to load, and there’s quite a bit of lag. It’s infuriating considering the super fast chip in them.

Call me cynical, but I can’t help feeling that Apple deliberately slows things down with the software updates to encourage people to buy the more up to date hardware.

Some iPad Pro/Air/Air 2 users have reported success doing a backup and a complete erase and restore, using iTunes, of their iPads.

Do you want to try and solve your iPad issues, or not?

Not everyone is having the exact same issues and every iPad users has different apps and setups of their iPads.

And many iPad users aren't having ANY issues with their iPads, at all, on iOS 11.

What can it hurt to try this?

Just because an erase and restore hasn't helped some iPad users, doesn't mean it may not work for you!

iOS 11 has destroyed my iPad Pro9.7

my iPad was super fast on iOS 9 and iOS 10.

animations are so laggy.

toggling the app switcher is very laggy

no app other than the stock apps work smoothly.

the keyboard is very laggy now.

i have an iPhone SE (Has the A9 chip) is faster than my iPad (which has the A9X chip)

iphone se surprisingly runs ios 11 like a boss.

ipad has become very unproductive for me. Most of the time I end up using my iPhone or my Mac instead of my iPad. ipad pro 9.7 was released in 2016. and obsolesence hitting this iPad so early is very very disappointing.

Tried what exactly?

All of my suggestions? Yes? No?

Have you tried resetting your MODEM/WiFi router?

Tried a hard reset of your iPad by holding down both the Home and sleep/wake buttons simultaneously until your iPad goes to black and restarts with Apple logo, then release the buttons?

Could backup your iPad to iCloud and/or iTunes and then try a complete erase and restore of your iPad Pro.

Folks I own an iPad Pro 9.7 and I can confirm that this update makes it lag horribly. I also have an iPhone 7 Plus, and it does not have any issues that I can identify like I can with the iPad Pro. I agree, Apple needs to address this problem as the iPad Pro 9.7 is less than a year and a half old and the 9.7 and the iPhone 7 were released the same year....

Yes, I've done that, optimized my apps by off loading them, etc. Nothing seems to work. I did report it to the iPad support group via your link earlier, it just surprises me that the transition to iOS 11 on my iPad is horrible compared to my transition to it on my iPhone 7 Plus. I do not have any major issues on my iPhone. My iPad is horrible. Im surprised considering the 9.7 is only a year and half old and released the same year as the 7 Plus. I get one is an A9X and the other is the A10, but still. I also have an iPad Air 2 and it does not have the performance issues that the 9.7 Pro has under iOS 11.

My iPad Pro was performing very well up until iOS 11. It really does feel deliberate to get us to buy a new one. Constant lag, stuttering, freezing while it tries to do an animation or open up an app. None of this was happening before and I want to go back to ios10. This is pushing me towards going back to surface because this thing shouldn’t be having these issues.
