iPhone 8: crackling static noise during calls

I think there’s no cure for this issue. Been frustrated enough, so had returned the phone and gotten the iphone 7. Wonder what issues will the iphone X faces. I’ve learnt to stay put until confirmed that it’s a stable phone.

Oh dear, that isn't good. I assumed it would work when applying both updates so I said I would get to it the weekend. I don't hold much hope now then, despite staying positive.

So from looking at this thread, people in the US, UK, Ireland all have the same issue. I'm hoping this is software and not dodgy pieces. Firmware!

I am so angry I updated to the Apple 8+ phone. It’s been nothing but trouble. Crackling noises, people on the other end can’t hear me and I have to constantly call them back, and my Internet is so slow I’m continually turning the phone on and off. I am so disappointed with Apple I’m ready to switch to a different brand of phone . It’s definitely not my service because I have the same service I had for years and also had with the Apple 6 phone. I never experienced so many problems. My advice skip the Apple 8.

Greg, your response is obnoxious at best. The typical Apple Fan-Boy response of "If you are unhappy, then please just go return the phone and get your money$$ back and buy something else!" is cute, but of no help to people. I would love to toss my crackly 8Plus in the garbage and change to a Pixel 2 or Galaxy Note but frankly can't given my tens-of-thousands of dollars of investment in the Apple ecosystem. We have 6 iPads, 4 iPhones and a handful of Macs in our home. I have had every iPhone model sold. I went from my 7Plus, which was brilliant, to 8Plus which seems to be a parcel of bugs & issues. The crackling issue is around the primary reason we carry phones, i.e. making calls.

Get off your high horse and don't post if it's not helpful.

Firmware update doesn't help either.

I’m having the same problem. Apple please fix or not the phone going back. I’m very disapointed quality control is not how it use to be.

Same problem here with me in the UK. Update 11.0.1 made no difference either. Gonna give it till Saturday if not fixed it's going back.

I am having this issue too... Present on every call and very annoying. Restart wont help neither did todays firmware update. Happens almost on every call with the phones earpiece...

This is a user-to-user technical support site. Appel executives are not here. Just bookmark this thread and when people start posting that their problem was solved then you can buy yours.

I am ok if an engineer from apple with iPhone and the same issue reads it :)
