It’s intermittent - on some calls you can perfectly notice it on others no problem. I have already tried resetting the phone with no success on solving the problem. I’m dealing with the issue since Friday. Very disappointed!
Does anyone has the same problem or knows how to fix it ?
I am having this same issue as well. I have an appointment Friday at the store. Happy to see Apple acknowledged the issue, debating keeping the apt - but I guess I want to get it "on the record" I have an issue, in case the software fix is more than 14 days from last Friday.
My iPhone 8 plus is having similar problems and the person on the other end can’t hear me. Also when I answer a call I can’t hear the caller, no sound comes through. Really need this fixed soon since I use this for work.
It’s aggravating because these are issues are from the early days of cell phones and should not be occurring in 2017.
Apple needs to stop rushing production to get items on the market, prior to the bugs fixed.
Just like have a wireless charging phone but it doesn’t come with a wireless charger.
I’m experiencing the same problem crackling earpiece sound on most of the audio calls, I wish it’s a software issue and can be fixed on the next update... I tried resetting the phone but don’t think it can resolve the issue.. we have to wait till the next update to confirm wether it’s a s/w or a h/w issue and can be fixed or not
Do you really want to believe this is as software issue ? They will possibly make an enhancement in software to correct this issue but definitely is strange that two new iPhones have different behaviour
Yes probably, it is certainly the best answer for Apple otherwise they would be flooded with defective devices with relelevant production costs. You can disguise the scar but you can’t make her desapear. But saying this each one is free to make its own option.
Hi, I am facing the same issue with my day old iPhone 8 plus. It is extremely annoying. The joy of getting a brand new device lasted a couple of hours before the noise started and when I checked forums on the internet I discovered it is a widespread problem.
It hurts after spending so much money on buying what you think is supposedly the best smartphone by Apple.
The noise is there with every call and I have like many others tried to change settings to see if something will help but to no avail.
Adding my name to the list of affected users. I've got an iphone 8, 256GB, space grey on AT&T. I can hear a slight crackle on every phone call. I don't hear it on speakerphone or through a bluetooth headset.

Same problem here, iPhone 8+, 256GB. Just got it 2 days ago, waiting for the new update to solve the issue. If it takes them longer than the 14 days though, I hope they won't mind accepting the return after that time, if not fixed! This noise is quite annoying, even more so after paying so much for 'quality' product!
I am also experiencing this issue on my 8 days old iPhone 8 Plus 256GB gold. It is an annoying crackle/static sound in the top earpiece during most of the calls . It's a very much irritating sound for my ear. I have already tried to fix this issue by resetting my device but it failed. I am very much disappointed. I will go for replacement.
It has nothing to do with the mobile phone provider. It’s the iPhone eight and 8+. There’s a problem with crackling on the line and the other party you’re talking to cannot hear. It’s the phone, no excuses.
What does this have to do with the static problem on the iPhone 8?
If you are locked out of iCloud by Activation Lock the only thing you can do is get the previous owner to remove the lock or return the iPhone and get your money back.
After the update, I still having issue with static sounds while calls.
Also, my screen sometimes is unresponsive. I had to press home button couple times then the screen went back to normal. I wonder how will that work out for X. Lol.
I even took the video and showed it to the apple store assistant, and they said that I was the only one who had an issue with the screen. Then I returned it and exchanged a 7 plus. I had enough of the crappy 8 plus.
Exact the same for me: iPhone 8 Plus and it is using iOS 11.0.2 and I still get static through the phone.
It doesn’t happen when I use an earbud, then the sound is perfect.
But without earbud or without speaker-on the normal phone sound is bad. Through the static noise I can hardly have a normal conversation.
I am also experiencing this issue with iOS 11.0.2 - on a long call, was really bad on AT&T cellular network, not 'AT&T WiFi - after switching from speaker > handset.
Worse on 11.0.2 than 11.0.0.
