Video streaming issue with safari & IOS 11

Hello. Since I updated mi iPad Air wifi+3g with ios11, when streaming videos over the net, video sequences repeat themselves backward (15 seconds loop 3 or 4 times) before to keep playing the rest of the video for 5 minutes and the same issue appears again. I noticed that the timer is not accurate and acts erratically. Tried google chrome, same issue than with safari. My soon iPad Air WiFi and my wife iPad Air WiFi +3g, all os them running ios11 have the same problem. It is impossible to stream videos. Any ideas?

thanks.

Yes we did a hard reset after updating.

It seems to happen with some video streaming servers like speedvideo, Vidoza etc. All browsers we have tried have the same issue so it may have something to do with the way ios11 treats the info from streaming servers. I noticed that it includes now buttons to roll back or forward 15 seconds from a video. Could it be that the roll back button triggered itself on its own?

I just wanted to make a short notice here that iOS 11.3 release did not improve these streaming issues. Videostreams still stop suddenly without any reason. I have five devices for testing, they all play the same live TV-Stream. Only apple devices with iOS 11 have trouble with some video streams. The devices I use for testing are iPad Pro iOS11.3, iPhone X iOS 11.3, iPad Mini 2 iOS10.23, Surface WinOS10, Dunno Androidxx. I place all units beside each other and let them stream the same video feed over the same Wifi. The first two in this list cannot stream continous video and do always stop after some time. This also happens if I only connect the iOS 11.3 devices for streaming.

I am still checking the other problem with rewinding 5 seconds and always playing the same section repeatedly with iOS 11.x devices. I will anounce here if I can confirm improvement or not. It is sad as in really sad.

I've been following this thread for quite some time since I had also been having issues with video streaming using IOS 11. I'm happy to say that recently the streaming began working properly for me. I'm now at IOS 11.2.5; I don't remember which IOS release actually fixed the problem. I apologize for not posting this earlier. I hope all of you will have the issue fixed as well.

Video looping occurring for me on multiple sites and multiple browsers too. I see it happens more often with sites that have some lag. Still would prefer the video to pause and resume rather than rewind as repeat endlessly. I can frequently reproduce the issue with any videos on kissanime.ac and on www.onlinemeded.com. Currently using iPhone X on iOS 11.2.6 using both Safari and Chrome browsers meaning it’s not a 3rd party problem but an Apple problem. Also happens in my iPad 4 mini. Apple, please fix this ridiculous issue already. It makes watching anything on my browsers completely impossible and extremely frustrating.

Same problem here. Especially videos longer than 5 minutes. Video will stop; Often pixelated; Then rewind and repeat over and over like a broken record in the same place. Prior to iOS 11, video streaming was excellent on all my iOS devices.

This bug continues now 5+ months into the initial iOS 11 release. No update since then has fixed this terrible video streaming problem that persists on several popular video content websites—such as MSNBC for example (just in case Apple cares to listen here and needs a test sample). Same video problem across all my mobile devices—on iPad Air, iPhone 6, and now even my new $$$$$ iPhone X.

Outrageous.

This a followup to my response several months ago.

The issue seems much less severe in recent weeks regarding the video on sites that I frequent—so much so that I now consider this a non issue on all my devices running iOS 11.3.1. IPhone X, iPad Air, all pretty OK. I say “pretty OK” because while I do get the occasional video stutter-replay, the video no longer gets totally stuck like a broken record, and even the stutters are very infrequent—could even be a brief connection issue.

I‘m guessing, but I suspect that the issue might have been a video encoding update issue on the part of the content providers where I previously experienced the epic fail playback. Not sure. But I’d really like to know if others are experiencing the same kind of improvement I described.

The sad thing is that they were all excited about updating the old player to this new one that don't work on any browser.

you think with the 7 updates that they would have released a fix for it in one of them. Maybe in iOS 11.3 the 8th update will have a fix. If not I think I'm done with apple for a while if I wanted an os that didn't work I would have stayed with android. Now my friends have all switched back to the galaxy 8 and say it's great and if there's no fix I may have to do the same at least till Apple gets their crap together. Maybe the iPhone 11 and iOS12.

So let me get this right. This problem was first reported 8 months ago, over 2000 people have now reported it, but there is still no fix, and worse still, no acknowledgement of the problem from Apple, yet alone a target date for a fix? I’m flabbergasted. I thought the problems i was having were due to my 4year old ipad air, which has just given up the ghost. Having shelled out £319 for a brand new 2018 model i’m not happy that i still have the same problem.
