Video streaming issue with safari & IOS 11

Hello. Since I updated mi iPad Air wifi+3g with ios11, when streaming videos over the net, video sequences repeat themselves backward (15 seconds loop 3 or 4 times) before to keep playing the rest of the video for 5 minutes and the same issue appears again. I noticed that the timer is not accurate and acts erratically. Tried google chrome, same issue than with safari. My soon iPad Air WiFi and my wife iPad Air WiFi +3g, all os them running ios11 have the same problem. It is impossible to stream videos. Any ideas?

thanks.

Hi. This seems to be working for me.

Is this a particular site, or any site?

Does it work normally on Vimeo, say?

Have you tried restarting your devices? Power off, not just sleep. It's important to do this after an iOS update.

Since I updated to IOS 11.1 on my iPad Pro. I have issues streaming videos on any application. I have tried Safari, Chrome, YouTube app... the videos stall, have buffering issues, stop completely or wait with the spinning wheel. The video stream constantly down grades as the stream look ahead time reduces. I have iOS 10.3.3 on my iPhone 7 Plus and have no streaming issues on the same WiFi network. I have rebooted the network, tried teathering to my iPhone, nothing’s works...

When I test my internet speed I have over 200 mbps.....

Please help...

Does anyone know if Apple is working on a fix for this ? I have exactly the same issue on my iPad Air and iPhone 6 (both now running iOS 11.1.2) since upgrading to iOS 11. My wife’s iPad 4 and iPhone 5c (both running iOS 10.3.3) don’t have this problem because they couldn’t be upgraded to iOS 11.

This has been going on for almost 2 months now and basically makes it impossible to watch embedded video in Safari.

Has anyone here bothered to try another third party iOS web browser, other than Safari?

Chrome?

Firefox?

iCab?

Opera?

Dolphin Web browser?

Perfect Web browser?

Aloha Web browser?

Any issues with embedded videos in these browsers?

I use Firefox and Perfect web browser and, also have iCab.

Someone post a link of a website with an embedded video that I can, at least, check these browsers for issues with embedded video content.

I just downloaded Firefox and did a test. Same issue unfortunately.

I think it has something to do with changes that were made to the video player (QuickTime I presume) in iOS 11. I understand it received quite an overhaul. Maybe this is now creating issues with older iOS devices like my iPad Air and iPhone 6. They should have tested this properly before releasing iOS 11 but clearly didn’t. Quite disappointing to say the least...

I did leave feedback. Hopefully someone will escalate this so that a fix will be available sooner rather than later.

I am getting more and more disappointed with Apple though. There just have been too many issues with several Apple products I own and this is just another typical example. Both my iPad Air as well as my iPhone 6 were working perfectly when they were running iOS 10.3.3. Now they both have (the same) problem due to a bug in an update. And almost two months in Apple has yet to address the issue.

Use aloha browser from the App Store it has it's own video player and it works great been using it ever since apple screwed up iOS 11 video player. Havenn't had any problems playing videos on it Hopefully apple fixes this soon cause they've kind of made my iPad Pro 12.9 inch worthless cause I use it for watching moves this iOS update was a complete disappointment Way to many glitches.

Thank you Tudie 27 ! I downloaded the Aloha app from the App Store and it did indeed solve the problem. Tested it with a few embedded videos over the weekend and found no more issues. It looks like the Aloha app uses a different videoplayer (not QuickTime). Because other web browsers like Firefox use the same videoplayer as Safari they all suffer from the same issue since the iOS 11 update.

I use my iPad for video quite a lot as well. I agree with you that iOS 11 has been a major disappointment. I have two other iOS devices that still run iOS 10.3.3 (because they can’t be updated to iOS 11) and they have no problems at all with video streaming in Safari.

What is even more disappointing is that Apple hasn’t done anything to address this two months after iOS 11 was released. There must be millions of people who are experiencing the same problem and Apple just doesn’t seem to care.

I am having the same problem with certain videos, repeats itself several times in segments. (It should not take 30 minutes to watch a 10 minutes segment). Apple is SUPPOSED to be a trademark company, however they can’t even get their programming correct. I am loosing faith in Apple. This needs to be fixed yesterday! If it continues, I will take my business elsewhere (with my family of 5).

As I stated in my reply, NO ONE from Apple responds to feedback submitted by users.

You will not be getting any response.

The feedback is read and reviewed, collected and collated and sent to the responsible and cognizant Apple teams and employees so they can evaluate, investigate and work on trying to solve the most common issues affected iOS 11 and the most iDevices the issues occur on.

Not every iDevice worldwide are having major issues with iOS 11.

These “OFFICIAL” Apple support communities would be inundated with more upset and angry users with all of the issues that only a minority of iDevice users are having.

No one here is seeing those kinds of numbers of iOS 11 problems and issues in these communities.

My 1st gen 12.9 inch screen iPad Pro amd my 6th gen iPod Touch are working just fine on iOS 11.

I am not having ANY of the reported iOS 11 issues here any of the iOS/iDevice support communities with my iDevices.

So, these issues are not worldwide, device-wide or user-wide.
