Video streaming issue with safari & IOS 11

Hello. Since I updated mi iPad Air wifi+3g with ios11, when streaming videos over the net, video sequences repeat themselves backward (15 seconds loop 3 or 4 times) before to keep playing the rest of the video for 5 minutes and the same issue appears again. I noticed that the timer is not accurate and acts erratically. Tried google chrome, same issue than with safari. My soon iPad Air WiFi and my wife iPad Air WiFi +3g, all os them running ios11 have the same problem. It is impossible to stream videos. Any ideas?

thanks.

Hi. This seems to be working for me.

Is this a particular site, or any site?

Does it work normally on Vimeo, say?

Have you tried restarting your devices? Power off, not just sleep. It's important to do this after an iOS update.

Nope they just released iOS 11.2 and still having the same problem. Guess it's their way of forcing people to go buy newer apple products. The best fix is to use aloha browser app it uses a separate video player. Maybe they'll fix it in iOS 11.3 this has to be the worst iOS ever released it's only 3 or 4 months old and they've updated it I think 4 or 5 times already kind of sad compared to what they use to be.

I also downloaded aloha and started using it so far works good.

I am actually running into other problem too with sound, already got one phone replaced but new one does the same.

You can hear some popping at the end of the video Iphone 8 plus speaker problem - YouTube (it is only 10-12 sec.) dont know if apple will ever fix this because not that many people complaining

I completely agree. After more than 2 months since the release of iOS 11 Apple hasn’t fixed this issue. Just upgraded to iOS 11.2 but that doesn’t help either. I’ve been a very loyal Apple customer for more than a decade now (12 Apple products in total business and personal combined) but I’m pretty much done now after all the issues I’ve had in the past 2 years with both hardware and software. It used to be that Apple products were reliable. Apparently that all doesn’t matter anymore. I’ll be looking elsewhere when the time comes to buy my next smartphone, tablet or laptop.

Problem is still the same even after upgrading to iOS 11.2. The only workaround I know of at this moment is to use the Aloha browser because it uses a different video player than Safari and other browsers which all have the same issue since Apple released iOS 11 more than 2 months ago. And since there’s no way to contact Apple directly about these kind of issues we’ll just have to wait until they decide we may perhaps be important enough to do something about it.

100% agree. Turn iDevices that are a couple of years old and are still working perfectly into bricks with a software “upgrade” so consumers will run to the nearest Apple store and open their wallets to replace them with new ones. Really sad indeed what has become of this company. Worst iOS ever indeed if you look at all the other problems users are having. Just unbelievable...

Hello audio!

I disagree on your therory because I have an IPhone X and I’m experiencing the same issue. The real shame here is to let people with a problem that lasts for 2 months now and not fixed it yet. So 2 solutions there: 1) they conscientiously let us in that intolerable situation (it’s a shame), or they don’t even know that there is an issue (it’s at the end, a shame)...

still experiencing the same Problem with iOS 11.2 with both my iPhone 7 Plus and iPad Pro 12.9 inch.

Video will loop after watching video streams for various timespans. Sometimes it loops every couple minutes, sometimes it loops after a couple of seconds. the duration of the loop will vary as well as the times it loops. It makes it almost impossible to even watch a 2 minute long video. Bug occurs on almost every website but not all the time. restarts and resets don't help as well as clearing the data. occurs various browsers.

Fix it already, its been months since iOS 11 was released... very disappointed

All my apple device (iPhone X, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 6SE, iPad Pro 12.9, iPad 2 and iPad Mini) are useless for video streaming (live TV streams and download streams). I use now a Surface Pro or a cheap dirty Android device (which I got from my provider fro free after complaining) to watch video streams. iOS 11 devices constantly stop playback (after a few minutes) or fall in endless video loops (play a minute and then stop, lopp back 4 secs, play again for 5 secs, go back 4 secs aso). I waited out all the updates for iOS 11 and I reset network settings, but still no improvement so I decided to wirte here. I could manage to revert my iPad Mini to iOS 10 and it works fine again.

Hi Tudie, I did this quite early after the first problems and after the first fixes didn't improve the problems. I downloaded the file to do this from the German MACLIFE http://www.maclife.de/ratgeber/downgrade-kehren-ios-11-zurueck-ios-1033-10096002 .html, but it also says that apple does only allow going back to previous OSs until after a short time. Maybe it is still possible. Sure there are also English language pages showing how to do this. Basically you download the respective (original apple) iOS10 file via PC or MAC and then use iTunes to downgrade the apple device with that file. Only make sure that you have the correct file fitting to that device. All the best from Japan. Uwe
