iPhone 8 Plus Sound Distortion

Hey. i think you might wanna take it to the Genius Bar, my 8Plus has the same issues and i tried everything...eventually, apple engineers agreed it was a defect and offered to replace my phone. Unfortunately, they didnt have a replacement in store as at when i went, but they just called me to come pick up a phone this week.. should be going there 2mrw or next. At this point, i dont think an OS update will fix it, I did a DFU, Restore, Update (even to beta) and still nothing. If theres no accidental or warranty void, you should get a replacement phone.

I am happy (VERY) to report the issue appears to be resolved and fixed as of iOS 11.3 public beta 4.

Err.... I think Najimm is gonna need a replacement. I had this same issue and since i got a replacement unit, its been resolved. I believe this issue is related to specific iPhones with maybe a different Hardware, my guess would be iPhone that were manufactured within a certain period, probably driver incompatibility. if it were genuinely a software problem, it would be across most iPhones at least.

If we compared serial/imei numbers, im pretty sure we will fit into iPhones manufactured within the same week(stock)...two at most.

Anyways, get a replacement unit.. apple probably wont speak about the real problem..bad PR and stuff..

I have had iPhone 8 Plus for just over one week and have been to Apple Store three times with the same problem. I too get a 'pop' when answering a call, while changing videos on YouTube and on some other apps. It happens when I am receiving a lot of messages at the same time or when I am typing a reply and another message comes in at the same time I am using the keyboard. It is driving me mad!

I have had a replacement handset and it has the same problem!

This is not the same issue as when this model was first released and the problem was during calls.

During my last visit I was told that it was because the speakers were different in the newer phones and that the problem is on all of these newer phones, he indeed showed me on his own iPhone X and it had the same problem.

I am actually really annoyed at this. I love my phone but I do not love this noise and as I paid a lot of money I expect perfection and an upgrade from my last model not a step back!

I think everyone should call into Apple Store or post on here and hopefully Apple will sit up and take note!

I’ve been working with Apple on this for 5 months, all the way up to Apple Executive Liason.

I’ve had 5 iPhone 8/8 Plus and all affected.

Also affects 7 Plus.

Replacements will have same issue so it’s widespread.

VERY not cool of Apple to not address this and refuse refunds.

I had this problem before, but I already found the cause, and solved it

the "pop" sound from loudspeaker when playing music is caused by the setting of "Background App Refresh"

disable the "Background App Refresh", and no more pop will occur

IOS 11.3 Beta 4 installed and clipping issue fixed in my iPhone 8!! 🙂

I have verified that if I am disconnected from the Wi-Fi network, the loudspeaker poping sound disappear. I often notice that noise when playing memories in the app photos. Has anyone else tried to disconnect the wifi network Iphone 8?

Yes I have the same problem here with my iPhone 8 in Pennsylvania the only solution is to have the phone on silent and turn off lock sound and keyboard clicks it helps a little but still get bad pops here and there ios11.2.6 don’t fix it but iOS has a lot of other bad silly glitches to its very embarrassing I waste money on buying music I still do from them with these bad pops

Are there any updates on the issue? The same for my iPhone 8 256GB iOS 11.2.6.

Who can confirm that saw 8/8Plus with latest iOS installed and without any sound distrortions in any third party application?

I've tested three different devices (two 8 Plus and one 8) in shops - all have the same issue!

It seems that there is no sense to change phone for a new one.

The list of problematic apps:

1. YouTube

2. Night Sky

3. Tiles

Same here iPhone 8 Plus 64Gb iOS 11.2.1.

Apple Support told me to wait for a new iOS version.

Seems software issue.

Take it in asap. They will refuse any replacements even if iit is a hardware defect unless you fight them good after 14 days.

As well as on my iPhone 8 Plus (3rd phone now) I also have the issue (albeit less frequently) on my MacBook Pro (2017). This points to perhaps it being a software issue that they just haven't picked up on even though they supposedly fixed the initial issues identified in September.

Otherwise they've been using dodgy speakers in all their 2017+ devices potentially... 😮
