Yes!! Since when do I want the volume to be the same level for EVERYTHING???!!! I just got the latest updat 11.2.5 and it has not been fixed. None of the suggestions made will work. I can manually change the volume sound on my alarm but when it goes off, it’s the same volume as my ringtone & notifications. I’m getting really frustrated with it, I hope apple fixes this! I have iPhone 7

Agreed. Ever since I purchased my iPhone 8, the alarm comes on blaring loud. I’ve adjusted the volume in the sound & haptics, but every morning the alarm comes back on extremely loud. Also, I can’t adjust volume on side, that only controls my ringer. Anything work for you?
I agree, opposite problem! I have the volume turned all the way up on the phone because I work in a louder environment. I only need a little volume to wake up but currently I can wake up the neighbors! My wife hates my iPhone's alarm and constantly bugs me to switch to Android for the independent alarm control. I have looked for specialized Apps but haven't found anything that will give me this option.
Same exact problem as 4frank2 and panda, thank you, that is exactly it. I couldn't figure out why I kept missing the countdown timer I set, but the problem is exactly what they said. If you are on your phone or look at your phone (with the iphone X) when the alarm is going or is about to go off, the volume is automatically cut to a fraction of the normal alarm volume. It makes it very easy to miss or forget about an alarm, as once the volume reduces it stays at that lower volume. And at that lower volume it's easy to swipe away the notification out of habit (for us long time apple users), especially while you are in the middle of something else like talking with speakerphone on or sending a text, and not even realize what you've done.
So for the X, it's not a settings issue, it's appears it is some new feature with the face id that tries to make the alarm or timer smarter, but i don't like it. Where's the ability to disable this feature?!
My volwas extremely high and I couldn’t control it.
With your help I found the “change with button” was turned off. I switch it on and now I can adjust the volume through the buttons.
Thank you.
I recall the “Change with button”-setting was reset to default off state the last time there was a major upgrade. Annoying the same thing happens twice tampering with user settings.
Why can't Apple just program a little slider button to control the alarm volume as opposed to building it in the Ringer and Alerts volume controls?
Same issue, opposite problem. I turn the volume way down for my alarm and it is BLARING when it goes off. Will try the fix.

I don't even have this setting. Nothing to do with "Haptics".
😕
In settings go to sounds. There you can adjust the ringer and alerts volume or turn on “change with buttons”
How about “Sounds” in your Settings?

I set “change with buttons” on and then used the side buttons to lower the volume.
Try a cold start on your phone.
This worked!
Just set “change with buttons” on in settings
(Only have to do this once.)
and then used the side buttons to lower the volume.
With the iOS 11 update, Alarm volume extremely low.
