iOS 11 Lock screen bug

After updating to iOS 11, I have come across a problem where my lock screen will mess up. It won't display the time or date anymore or any notifications. Once this starts happening, more glitches begin to happen such as swiping through my apps lags or freezes, switching apps get stuck, the home button lags, and then after a while the screen becomes unresponsive and I have to restart the phone (using my assistive touch or the home and power button).

I updated my phone 3 days ago (before posting this) and this has already happened 3 times.

Does anyone know why this may be happening or how to stop it??

iPhone 6s, iOS 11

I believe I found a workaround solution to this bug (and yes I have tried the recommended “fixes” but it would still happen after a few hours).

Workaround Solution: Clear out all notifications. In the lock screen or notifications view press and hold the little x which will give you the option to clear all of the notifications for that day.

I did this 4 days ago and I have had no issues with my lock screen or notifications screen as of yet. It seems that’s iOS can’t handle a certain amount of notifications (I must have closed out over 200+ notifications). Starting with today I’m only leaving notifications for the current day and the day before (clearing out any older notifications).

Hope this helps you guys and also hoping for iOS 11.3 to have a fix for this.

UPDATE NOV 5: My issues below have been resolved since I've updated to 11.1. If you haven't done so, I HIGHLY recommend you do.

ISSUE REPORTED in LATE OCTOBER:

Same issue here. iPhone 7 Plus. Upgraded to the latest iOS (11.03). Now I need to reset it 10 times a day. Turned off Apple Pay. What I’ve noticed is that if I hit the power button to lock my screen, the phone goes into a deep-freeze.

If I locked the screen and try to revive it seconds late, IMPOSSIBLE. I have to reset it. If i don’t lock it physically and let it auto-lock on its own, it doesn’t become unresponsive.

But I’ve now missed SO MANY pictures because I pull out my phone, swipe it and... Nothing. Black screen. Click screen. Nothing. Click home button. Haptic response. But black screen stays. Aaaaargh Apple, hard reset once again.

Not cool and not funny, Apple!!!

This issue was happening on my iPhone 7 and then on my iPhone X.

I found a solution on my side:

1. I change the wallpaper from perspective to still.

2. I removed the last widget called “Fandango”.

No more issues since the 2 changes. I think removing the widget made the difference. You might want to remove all non-Apple widget to check if the issue is still here and then add non-Apple widget one by one to identify which one is causing the issue.

I just switched to update after using Amdroid for years - IPhone X on latest version of iOS

Lockscreen goes blank - no way out other than reboot. I've found A workaround, but feel it's ridiculous Apple hasn't fixed this

To fix it, simply remove your widgets. I have not had a crash in over month since doing this. I tried adding them back in one by one, no luck I have a $1k phone with a blank widget screen. It beats trying to get out into the phone only to have to reboot it though

It’s something with the widgets and. Originations and attached to iCloud accounts I believe. I say this because it is affecting my iPad as well. Using little to no widgets will stop it but it will not stop

The fidgeting animations when going into and out of apps. I tried to DFU restore the phone ( Device firmware update) and not only did it not work, it almost bricked my phone when I restarted it. Thank goodness a second restart brought the phone back. So once again reduce your widget count or remove them and this blank lock screen, widgets, and notifications bug though still

There will stop wreaking havoc on your phone.

I was having the same issue on my up to date iPhone X. I’d look at my lock screen and the time/notifications/now-playing wouldn’t be displayed for no particular reason. I’d still be able to press where the now-playing buttons would have been and the music would respond, so it’s like the functions were still there - I just couldn’t see them. I was about to restart my phone for the third time today and I read about changing the widgets. I unlocked the phone, removed three widgets (stocks, weather, and a banking app), locked it and the lock screen fixed itself.

I also still have the issue. Don’t know when apple will recognize this problem and rectify it. There are videos on YouTube about it now. Though after the update the glitch isn’t as frequent but still frustrating. I am tryout g something else in the meantime to see if it will Finally kill the bug. I have reseted all settings to see if it will be a fix. Apparently some people have done it and it worked for them.

It'd not exclusive to ios 11. You could've avoided upgraded and it still. Could've happened. It happened to me on ios 10.3 and someone I know had it happen on ios 10.2. I tried updating to ios 11 and it didn't fix the problem. Neither upgrading worked. Recently I am now using widgets except 2 widgets that seem to be causing the lock screen to go blank and now the widgets and clock and access to the camera from the lock screen are retaining. Only problem that persists is when there are too many notifications, the notifications start to hide behind the other and the music controls in the notification shade would abnormally appear when it is supposed to already be there. Lastly choppy app animations still exist when switching from app to home screen and from home screen to apps as well as switching between apps or when going g from lock screen to home screen. As if the bug is trying to worse to the phone.
