Iphone 8 voice quality issue

Hi Lee, just to confirm you have the same issue as me, is the audio ok when you use speakerphone or head set? I.e. the problem only affects when holding the phone to your ear?

Some other useful information on this topic, the iPhone 8 for AT&T uses a new LTE modem form Intel, this is different than the iPhone 7 and before. Also Verizon phone use a modem from Qualcomm, thus the reason people on Verizon and Spring at not seeing the issue.

I have an I phone 7 plus and My husband has and I phone 8 plus. When we facetime our daughter in Arizona her 8 plus phone voice quality will be fine for a minute or 2 then I start sounding like a duck she cannot understand anything I am talking about. I have tried it on both mine and my husbands phones and the same thing happens. This does not happen on my other children's Iphones, this must be an issue on her end

I too have very muffled audio on my 8+ during phone calls compared to my iPhone 6s. Sometimes I can’t hear them so bad I get the ***** and call them back on FaceTime audio and the clarity is instantly 20 times better. Whether I call on 4g or wifi. I think it must have something to do with whatever chip controls call transimission and receiving.

I have T-Mobile and I am having the same issue. I am going to go back to the T-Mobile store to see if they will exchange, before trying Apple. I originally thought it was just my father’s phone that had the problem, since he was the only one complaining, then recently my wife and my brother both made the same comment. I just bought this phone less than two weeks ago, and kind of disappointed that it has this issue.

My issue is about half or more than half of incoming calls sound broken up on iPhone 8 with Sprint while LTE is on. The other person hears me fine but I hear them breaking up as soon as I answer the call. I tell them to hang up and call me back, then phone call voice is fine. If LTE is off it will go to 3G and no voice issues. Also no voice issues while at home and using WiFi calling. I know of someone who has iPhone X on AT&T with the same problem as me. Looks like definitely a problem with LTE specifically on iPhone 8 and X. Sprint even changed my MSID since I saw on Reddit someone saying that this corrects the issue, it worked a few days for me but back to square one with the same original problem even with MSID changed.

I am on Sprint and have an iPhone 8+ for about 3 months now. Just recently people have been saying they cannot hear me and that I sound like I'm "underwater". I upgraded to iOS 12 because I hadn't done that yet, that didn't help. I turned off noise cancellation which seems to be working for now but I just did this an hour ago. I use my phone for work and cannot be breaking up or sounding like I'm underwater for customers.

I hope apple fixes this issue because it's serious. You have over 6 pages of complaints over the last year with the same issue on the same phone across different networks. Please look into this apple.

Nothing wrong with phone speaker or software only remove your factory install screen protector it’s cover the the top speaker one beside the camera that’s all problem solved

Same issue on iPhone 8 Plus from T-Mobile. The noise canceling on/off does not fix the issue for me.

Good voice quality on FaceTime or phone calls using Bluetooth headphone.

Apple told me they can replace it but I have already paid $43 for Zagg screen protector, if I change the phone my Screen protector will be wasted.

I hope Apple take a closer look into the voice quality issue.

Switched from iPhone 6 to 8 two months ago. People complained they couldn't hear me and asked 'to speak up'. My iPhone was replaced, but I still have the same issue. Has the iPhone become a lousy phone? I have now disabled noice cancellation, see if this works.

My husband bought the “X” and had similar call/voice problems but not as bad as I was having with my

new 8+ (which I returned). He traded in his “X” for a 7 which still has muffled/poor acoustics sounding voice issues but the problem is easier to accept on a phone that costs nearly half as much as the “X.” It may behoove Apple to focus more on call sound quality issues and less on new emoji features

I, too, am having this problem. It is particularly discouraging because the date today is July 12, 2018, and I see you posted Sept 25, 2017. So it's been a year and nothing is being done about the issue and these phones are being sold with this known problem. Disgusting. I have been to the Apple store and changed SIM cards, etc. All the things you speak of. No improvement. In fact, the muffled voice on mine is so bad people have to call me back on my land line!

I'm getting the same issue. People can't hear me or they say I keep breaking up. FaceTime video is great, but the voice they say is still awful. Any luck resolving this?
