Iphone 8 voice quality issue

Hi,

I got the Iphone 8 on 20th Sept 2017. Transferred data and all settings from my Iphone6s. Took few hours. Started using the phone since then have mainly two issues which are bugging me.

1- True Tone on Iphone 8 gives orangy pictures and the same picture on Iphone 6s looks more brighter and 'whiter'. Turning the True tone helps but again Iphone 6s shows the picture slightly brighter and better than Iphone 8.

2- Voice quality of Iphone 8 seems hollow and not clear as compared to 6s. I have tried the same network on both phones. Have tried different SIMs too. Iphone 8 is louder but the voice quality seems suppressed or 'voice coming from well'. It is not bad, but I can tell the difference. if it was at least same as 6s, then OK, but it seems slightly worse off.

If any one has experience of the above or have any suggestions that would be helpful. Else the phone is getting back for refund. I don't see much difference from 6s to 8 (for the usage I do).

Many Thanks.

iPhone 8, iOS 11

I bought 2 8+ and both have a muffled voice. People in the other end constantly ask me to speak louder or complain that they can’t hear. I exchanged one of the phones to see if i just got unlucky but the same problem resurfaced with the exchange. Thinking of returning both phones at this point.

I have an I phone 7 plus and My husband has and I phone 8 plus. When we facetime our daughter in Arizona her 8 plus phone voice quality will be fine for a minute or 2 then I start sounding like a duck she cannot understand anything I am talking about. I have tried it on both mine and my husbands phones and the same thing happens. This does not happen on my other children's Iphones, this must be an issue on her end

Same problem here on my iphone 8 on EE network in the UK. Tried all the suggestions (settings, new simm, hard reset, etc) and eventually ended up at Genius Bar in Apple store and they diagnosed a faulty bottom right microphone and gave me a replacement handset. They said microphone can’t be repaired. online fault testing with Apple didn't find this but as soon as test was run in the genius bar they found a microphone fault.

I thought that a replacement handset had sorted it…..however, I've still got exactly the same problem though- intermittent poor call quality where people can’t hear what I’m saying. Tried all options with carrier but getting nowhere. it’s really difficult to pin down as the fault is intermittent…. a call to EE tonight no problems. A call to Apple support shortly after and they couldn’t hear me. apple suggested I go back to Genius bar again....

AND! why do I have to do all this bloody tricked out messing around with my new phone to have good voice quality? Where's the factory? Where's customer support? But I can tell ya, Apple is expecting us, the owners, to eat the cost of the iPhone 8 with voice problems. Just watch, here soon the next iPhone will come out, we want good voice call quality, we will be told to buy new and improved, sic! The iPhone 8 will be worthless, trade in value "O". 700+ bucks shot up the butt.................... Apple, your fast becoming the Ugo of the phone world.

I too have very muffled audio on my 8+ during phone calls compared to my iPhone 6s. Sometimes I can’t hear them so bad I get the ***** and call them back on FaceTime audio and the clarity is instantly 20 times better. Whether I call on 4g or wifi. I think it must have something to do with whatever chip controls call transimission and receiving.

I have the same issue with my iPhone 8 and New Zealand and Australia apple support are not willing to come to the party. They have given me a replacement service phone and not a brand new phone with the same issues. It's quite likely that it was my exact phone they gave back to me minus the screen protector I put on it. Apple service is non - existent.

I upgraded my iPhone 6 to an 8 two weeks ago. On the very first day, the people I called complained about not hearing me well -- "I am only hearing every third word you are saying", "you sound like you are in a tunnel (or underwater)", etc.

Ten days ago, I took the phone to a local Apple-authorized support shop, they ran the Apple audio diagnostics apps and also reported no problems. I finally convinced them to call me from a separate room. It took about three minutes of random chatting before they FINALLY heard the problem firsthand. The phone was sent back to Apple and I picked up the replacement ("new" they told me) this week. Today was the first chance I had to make several phone calls and AGAIN those I'm calling are complaining about the EXACT SAME audio problem! According to them, it does seem a little better if I use plug-in audio set, but still not great. Using the "WiFi for calls" option does not seem to matter. I have owned nothing but iPhones since version 4 and am really disappointed to find out this problem is not just with my TWO new 8's.

The reason most users opt for Apple is because of their seamless operating platform and reliability.

I’ve had my iPhone 8 for 3 months and most of the calls I make/receive can’t be heard.

My carrier does not want to take responsibility and sent the phone to Apple ; Apple ran their diagnostic and sent the phone back stating there was nothing wrong.

I’m stuck with the problem.

Really disappointed with Apple , will definitely be the last Apple product I use.

I had this on an iPhone 8 Plus, problem was the leather wallet case, when opened back on itself to make a call it caused my voice to sound muffled. Took the case off and used the phone naked and problem gone. Something to do with the little mic between camera lenses being interfered with by the case. Turning off noise reduction made no difference for me.

I'm having the same issue with poor audio. I'm on Vodafone network in Oz. NEVER had a problem with my iPhone 4 or iPhone 5. Decided to spoil myself and upgrade to 8+. Have already returned one phone due to constant issues. Now I'm constantly having people on the other end saying they can't hear me properl, my voice drops out and constant crackling noise.

have done as others suggested, going into settings and turning off "Phone Noise Cancellation" but this was already turned off.

Really disappointed with iPhone 8+. No point going to Apple if they won't acknowledge the fault. 😡😡😡👎-1F3FC;👎-1F3FC;👎-1F3FC;

Jojoswe - I assumed this was the situation, but relieved to read that the Genius Bar confirmed the design flaw. I fixed the broken screen on my 6s and went back to that weeks ago. My new 8 went back in its box in hopes that someday Apple will fix or refund. If that doesn’t happen when the 6 is obsolete, my next phone(s) will NOT be an Apple.

Picked up my new 8+ 6 days ago and had SERIOUS call/voice quality issues from the start. Had 2 new replacements since and tried various fixes but the problems remain. Other phone features work nicely, but the phone call issue appears to be inherent in the 3 NEW 8+ phones I received (not a Sprint problem), what are the odds? Nevertheless, I'm returning the phone today and will deal with a phone replacement another day, devoting 6 days to a NEW phone issue from the outset with no fix or acknowledgement a problem exists is unacceptable for me.

However I must say most of the folks at Apple have been a pleasure to deal with and they didn't hesitate to enchange my NEW phone with 2 NEW replacement phones (14 day return policy).

My husband bought the “X” and had similar call/voice problems but not as bad as I was having with my

new 8+ (which I returned). He traded in his “X” for a 7 which still has muffled/poor acoustics sounding voice issues but the problem is easier to accept on a phone that costs nearly half as much as the “X.” It may behoove Apple to focus more on call sound quality issues and less on new emoji features

I, too, am having this problem. It is particularly discouraging because the date today is July 12, 2018, and I see you posted Sept 25, 2017. So it's been a year and nothing is being done about the issue and these phones are being sold with this known problem. Disgusting. I have been to the Apple store and changed SIM cards, etc. All the things you speak of. No improvement. In fact, the muffled voice on mine is so bad people have to call me back on my land line!
