Iphone 8 voice quality issue

Hi,

I got the Iphone 8 on 20th Sept 2017. Transferred data and all settings from my Iphone6s. Took few hours. Started using the phone since then have mainly two issues which are bugging me.

1- True Tone on Iphone 8 gives orangy pictures and the same picture on Iphone 6s looks more brighter and 'whiter'. Turning the True tone helps but again Iphone 6s shows the picture slightly brighter and better than Iphone 8.

2- Voice quality of Iphone 8 seems hollow and not clear as compared to 6s. I have tried the same network on both phones. Have tried different SIMs too. Iphone 8 is louder but the voice quality seems suppressed or 'voice coming from well'. It is not bad, but I can tell the difference. if it was at least same as 6s, then OK, but it seems slightly worse off.

If any one has experience of the above or have any suggestions that would be helpful. Else the phone is getting back for refund. I don't see much difference from 6s to 8 (for the usage I do).

Many Thanks.

Have finally solved the voice quality issue on my 8 plus. A tech at Consumer Cellular found the solution. Go to Settings, General, Accessibility, then under hearing, turn off Phone Noise Cancellation.
The other thing that also improves the quality is to turn on Speaker

Picked up my new 8+ 6 days ago and had SERIOUS call/voice quality issues from the start. Had 2 new replacements since and tried various fixes but the problems remain. Other phone features work nicely, but the phone call issue appears to be inherent in the 3 NEW 8+ phones I received (not a Sprint problem), what are the odds? Nevertheless, I'm returning the phone today and will deal with a phone replacement another day, devoting 6 days to a NEW phone issue from the outset with no fix or acknowledgement a problem exists is unacceptable for me.

However I must say most of the folks at Apple have been a pleasure to deal with and they didn't hesitate to enchange my NEW phone with 2 NEW replacement phones (14 day return policy).

Not sure if this will help anyone else, but Apple Support solved my particular issue: I bought a new iPhone 8 Plus and started testing it and found that my voice quality was sounding very muddy/muffled to the person on the other end of the conversation. It was unacceptably bad.

Called Apple Support. The iPhone 8 Plus had IOS 11.4 when I took it out of the box and I had upgraded to 11.4.1 as part of set up. The Support person asked that I first back up the phone, then, using iTunes, Restore it to factory settings, re-install 11.4.1 from scratch, then restore my back up. I did all that via iTunes on my Macbook Pro (not believing it would help.) Then after all that (which takes awhile) he called me on my iPhone 8 Plus and stated that my voice sounded perfectly clear to him. I still wasn't confident that the software was the issue but sure enough I have retested it and the sound is definitely much clearer now.

My suspicion (and his) is that my upgrade to 11.4.1 was not truly successful and by going all the way back to factory settings and then reinstalling, the issue went away.

Looking back, that actually seems more likely than a hardware issue, so I really am glad I didn't just return the phone for another (one which could have had the same issue with software.)

We have an iPhone 8 plus on Verizon with the same issue of people we are talking to, complaining of muffled audio. My daughter also has the iPhone 8 plus, living in a different city, and when we talk to each other, we have been arguing about which phone or cell location is causing the audio problems. We both have noise cancellation enabled.

I just got a new iPhone SE yesterday, with iOS 11, on Verizon, and today, a customer said the audio was not clear at various times during the call. ( noise cancellation enabled). I took the phone out of the case to make sure the case was not interfering with the cell signal or microphones. Before the iphone SE, I was using an IPhone 5 running iOS 10, aith noise cancellation enabled, and had no audio complaints during calls.

We are turning off noise cancellation on all 3 iPhones to see if that corrects the problem...

Could the problem be iOS 11?

Apple has replaced my iPhone 8 three times because of the audio problem everyone here is experiencing. The sound is horrible. I bought the phone in January, 2018 for $700. I am glad I purchased the Apple Care as well. After 3 new phones I have the same problem so now Apple is blaming Verizon. Verizon takes no responsibility for the poor audio so I am stuck with a lousy expensive iPhone that I would never recommend to anyone. My friend has a $15 tracfone that has wonderful voice quality, guess I should have saved some money. when it's time to get a new phone I'll shop around.
