I'm stuck in a loop. Installation in progress then it freezes prompting a restart. The restart start the process all over only to freeze again. I'm on my third try... am I off to see a Genius?

It did find old Mac OS X installers, but not MacOS Sierra.
I just got taken rather unhelpfully to recover using High Sierra, how did you manage to roll back you Yosemite?

I used Internet recovery (cmd-opt-R) and Yosemite is what I was given. I would have preferred to have been given Sierra since Yosemite wouldn't allow me to log in but at least I'm up and running now.
My MacBook got to about 90%, then stated "cannot create pre-boot on APFS" and aborted. Now machine is also stuck on a restart loop
Maybe too late, download Sierra from your purchased apps in App Store and reinstall it, no data lost.
I've had that with USB sticks. When you trash files, they still occupy space on the drive. To free it up, you also need to empty the trash on your computer, while still connected.
Oops, for some reason it lists all my previous incarnations except Sierra.
Hi in speaking to a genius I was informed that High Sierra needs 32gb. I got this and it installed on to my usb stick without issue.

I don't have access to Sierra. Not sure why, but it's not in my purchases list.
I have Lion, Mountain Lion, Mavericks, Yosemite, El Capitan.... I'm missing Sierra. 😕 I'm also not seeing High Sierra in My Purchases.
