macOS high sierra Finder not responding

Hi guys

I upgraded my operation system to macOS high sierra. After installation finished. I realised the file on my desktop is not showing up.

  • I clicked on finder, it is not launching.
  • I went to force quit, find out "finder not responding".
  • Third party app still working.
  • Searching in spotlight, file result still showing up. But click on the result, nothing happen.

I thought it was my mac indexing the data. but It's been couple of hours, still like this.

  • i have a lot of data
  • 15 inch Macbook with Touchbar
  • iCloud drive is turned on

Thanks.

MacBook Pro TouchBar and Touch ID, macOS High Sierra (10.13), 2TB 2.9 GHz Intel Core i7

I had this issue after upgrading to High Sierra on my September 2017 Macbook. After being unable to find a solution on forums etc I contacted Apple Support. They directed me to start in safe mode; which helped for a few days. After it occured again I contacted Apple again. They said there must have been an error during download and installation nof High Sierra. They recommended best solution would be to re-download and reinstall High Sierra. I didn't do it. After a while I decided to disable all "finder integration" for Dropbox etc. After that, Finder works fine. No lags, no lock-ups, no force-quits needed. I recommend that you disable all finder integrations for cloud storage solutions.

Having the same problem. It could be a problem of Photos uploading to iCloud because I have more than 100k photos. In fact High-Sierra converted photos and videos and will upload all of them again. This process is currently ongoing because it takes "some" time (days). So far it only happens when I'm not working on my Mac and come back after some minutes. Then I can do nothing, not even the mouse cursor is moving anymore. This already happened at least ten times. I've switched off all Energy Saver and Screen Saver settings because of that. So I see the Mac is still running somehow but it's completely frozen.

Hey Kajuma!

Got the same issue and my Mac is still under warranty (MacBook Pro 2016 with Touch Bar).

I don't think it's a «care only for under warranty product» kind of thing.

I tried to do a PRAM, but am still experiencing graphical anomalies while trying to run Finder.

Rebooted the computer 4 times too...

All the other apps work seamlessly, but Finder is partially ******* me off.
