Cannot login after High Sierra Update

I have seen two examples of this problem today. The fix seems to be to physically plug into a LAN, then you can login.

This is no help if you don't have ethernet (or an adapter) though.

Just corrected this issue with the assistance of Derek at Apple. It was the System Management Controller (SMC). See the attached steps.

Sound like my problem. What should we do if we cannot connect to our company network.

Hey JT73, if you find a resolution that does not include reinstalling the OS, can you post back here? We need to get a reasonable handle on this ourselves.

Luckily I have a time machine backup from a few days ago. Otherwise I would have lost all my data.

VPN was not the issue for me. Reproduced errors in Apple store. Looks like ill just have to stay in Sierra. Already restored from Time Machine 3 times. I'm done with this.

I just installed Sierra and I am being asked to sign in twice and then the system freezes on the second password screen.

I just updated the software.. And suddenly I can't log in into my account, can anyone help me with this? 😢

I logged in on safe mode then entered my password. The bar went very slow but when it finally finished it froze and would not go any further.u
