IOS 11 Keyboard lag

I know a perfect fix. Download and install Google's GBoard. It looks the same, works the same as Apple's and it's not anywhere as sluggish as Apple's. Once you install it, you'll never miss Apple's keyboard. And once a bunch of us do that, maybe Apple will take care of it. It's unbelievably irresponsible and irresponsive from Apple this matter. If you google it, you'll find this problem is in the boundary of 12~16 months old. They're already in iOS 11.4, and they haven't fixed it!. I'm a programer myself, and I know this sort of thing doesn't take that long to be solved. I wonder what would happen if Tesla sold cars with the steering wheel as irresponsive as iOS keyboard, Can you imagine?

Install 3rd party keybord, remove all the other ones, restart iPhone, add your standard ios keybord and remove the 3rd party one. That fixed it for me 😀

For now, install google Gboard keyboard and then disable the default keyboard

The fact that it's happening on a new and powerful device is very strange. You should definitely have that checked in an Apple Store. Meanwhile, installing a third party keyboard such as SwiftKey will keep you from going totally nuts.

Also, I'm guessing that you used the same icloud account on both devices. You should definitely go in the icloud settings > manage data > and clear "text input"

I'm experiencing the same issue. It's really driving me insane.

I disabled text-to-speach in the Keyboards setting, it made things slightly better.

I have this problem on my iPhone 6s too. It's getting slower and lag after a while. But a rebooting work for me (well for a short time, then it's lag again)

Hey all. After installing 11.1.1, I’m not experiencing the keyboard latency. It’s earrly on and I would still like a few days of use to say that this is the fix but wanted to see whether you all see improvement.

As a workaround (not entirely) ! I suggest you turn off predictive keyboard. Maybe that Learning IA, or could be Siri learning what we are typing, the reason for that lag. Plus, i reported this bug to apple from iOS 11 beta 3 with it's bug reporter app still no fix to date.

I’ve experience also, it’s weird, I thought I fixed it by erasing my entire phone and restored it and it worked for awhile. Stopped lag and everything was smooth. But about a month I’d say has passed and the problem returned. Lag messaging all over again. My next try is erase everything and not restore from a backup. I got this paranoid feeling maybe some keylogger app maybe running because I can’t explain it. Wouldn’t know where to begin. I only visit legit XXX websites 😂😂😂😂. Seriously though this is my only other thing to try since it seemed to work nuking the phone completely. Just need to follow through with no old backups and start fresh.

Has anyone tried to download the 11.3 beta software? Anyone can do this and there is also new options to TURN OFF THROTTLING!

I have the same issue. The keyboard isn’t unusable. Need to switch to a third party keyboard to be able to write anything.

I’m experiencing the exact same problem on my iPhone but apparently only in applications such as Message, WhatsApp, or messenger... it thus seems that the problem comes from these apps directly because in safari everything works just fine. I have tried rebooting of course and that does not help. Currently being abroad I cannot do a back up of my device and a clean install.

I have seen and read a lot about this issue (just try to google problems with ios11 or lag keyboard iOS, you’ll see how many people have run into that problem) and i thought that I would wait a bit before updating my phone, so I just did it yesterday and still got the problem.

My phone is not too old (iPhone 6S) so it really does come from the update itself.

Have this problem on both iPhone 6 and 6s , I have ticket with Apple support, last suggestion was to try 11.3 bug fix but still the same. Clearly a bug but apple not recognising it ... which is a disappointment. Does it need more complaints to be prioritised to get fixed! Apple?

I have the same problem with my iPhone 6+. As soon as I installed iOS 11 my iPhone it started lagging mostly using the keyboard but it's lagging when I open app or use games as well. Very disappointed. Try to re-install everything but nothing worked so far.

Took latest bug fix 11.1.1, which claimed keyboard fixes BUT still has unacceptable lag on multiple phones 6, 6S, also about 6 sec lag when mail opens. Cant make a call on a phone! pretty fundamental!

Would be nice if Apple told us they were working on a fix at least!!!
