What does this mean? I’m trying to reinstall macOS High Sierra! Can’t get past this error message “the recovery server could not be contacted”

I had the same issue after I wiped the drive on my MacBook Pro. When you wiped the drive you selected the wrong format. All you need to do is simply go to disk utilities and erase the drive again, but this time select APFS (Encrypted) rather than just APFS. You may now click Reinstall macOS High Sierra. Side note, make sure you have internet connection in your status bar.
I tried this and it wouldn’t connect to my WiFi. Eventually just went to a black screen with a circle with a line across it
Yeah - that solved that error, but for me it is now hanging further down in the install process unfortunately with a claimed 8 minutes left ... just my bad luck I guess.

If you literally did exactly what he said, then that may be the issue. The numbers provided we're specific to that date and time. Edit yours to match today and the current time.

Hey! I tried modifying the date at the terminal, but gave me the message that "Operation not permitted". Any suggestions?
