iBooks pdfs on iPhone not syncing after iOS 11

First, confirm on your iPhone that in Settings > your name > iCloud > iCloud Drive > iBooks is ON.

Then, also on your iPhone, confirm that in iBooks app > Library > at the bottom of the Collections drop down menu, Show iCloud Books is checked.

I’m also experiencing difficulties. After three restores « as a new phone », several of my ePubs are greyed out, like the downloading process is about to start but nothing happens.

The same ePubs are concerned after each restore. Keeping my phone on WiFi all night doesn’t show any progress.

Have similar issue. Bought a new iPad mini 4. Was transferring all my content including over 1000 books from old iPad mini (1st) to new one, was not able to get all my books. Finally backed up old iPad to iCloud, and then restore new one From that backup. Almost all my books are back except about 20 that still show little square in circle and are grayed out. I tried reload one, but it loads as another item. Anyone can help?

Rysz - sorry but I can’t seem to find any drop down menu that says “show iCloud books”?? I went into both the iBooks app in settings and the actual iBooks app on my iPhone. There is nothing that says “library“ and there is no drop down menu at all. (My iCloud Drive setting is ON for iBooks in settings, yet my iBooks do not sync at all and I’m missing the majority of my collection which has been wiped out. Yet everything is intact on my iPad?) I also tried Tux Kapono’s method (below comment) but I can’t find anything at the bottom that says “hide iCloud books” with a turn on/off option. Do you know what I could be doing wrong?

Rysz - please disregard above comment, I was able to find the toggle for “hide iCloud books” and it is turned off. However, that has not resolved my problem. The majority of my collection is now gone. I wish I hadn’t upgraded to iOS 11.

Hi, I am also experiencing sync issues. Since iOS 11 update, my iPad Air 2 and iPhone 5S do have all their original docs but do not appear want to sync new ones. I have checked the iCloud/iBooks setting and the hide/unhide iCloud in iBooks itself. I thought at first it was because I had only updated my iPad as I also couldnt see Safari opened pages on my iPad from my iPhone but I have now updated both, Safari is OK (though now slow, you have to wait 5-10secs for them to appear) but iBooks still will not sync. Both at 11.0.3.

Rysz - I followed ALL of your instructions in link above, however, nothing has fixed iBooks. It no longer syncs anything. I can no longer download any books (even though I have plenty of memory both on my devices and in iCloud.) And the app crashes continuously - so much that I can no longer use the apps or read any of my books. iOS 11 has been a disaster for iBooks on my devices.

The Share button didn’t list Save PDF to iBooks because the file I had opened wasn’t in the Safari browser. I’ve learned that apps with built in web browsers and Chrome fon’t Even get the option to add share to iBooks or share to kindle.

I am having the same problem but with a twist: I have not used and will not be using iCloud. The available space through iCloud is insufficient for my needs. As a result I am looking for a solution that does not involve the use of iCloud. Instead of using a Mac as a host, I am using a Windows 10 PC.

Thank you for this - I completely overlooked the option at the bottom of the menu. In iOS 11 it's now iBooks app > My Books > All Books and make sure 'Hide iCloud Books' at the bottom is off (not green). rivi

I’m experiencing the exact same issue. I wonder what could be causing it.

I have a 6S and updated to iOS 11.0.3 this morning and now almost half of my pdfs are missing from iBooks. I've been following along, but nothing working yet.
