I had the same problem with WiFi not auto connecting then falling off. I went into settings > WiFi> I selected my WiFi connection and tapped on (I) I saw the Auto Join was disabled. I think this may have happened during the last update. It fixed my problem

I opened a case with Apple, followed below steps which worked for me.
Installed 11.2 yesterday through phone (don’t upgate through phone).
Steps
1. Take a phone backup on computer through iTunes
2. Restore phone (iPhone 8 Plus) through iTunes In desktop. It was approximately 2.75GB
3. One done, setup the phone as a new iPhone. Don’t restore from backup at this point.
4. Once all the phone setup done, restore the backup taken in step 1.
5. All done... earlier my wifi speed was showing ~8mbps. Now it is showing ~40mbps
I hope this will help!!
There is a new setting in iOS 11 called "Auto-Join" which you can find under the particular wireless netowrk you have joined. It seemed that on my iPhone 8, it was not enabled, so everytime my iPhone 8 left the network or went to screen-off, it left the network and did not rejoin.
On the other hand, my iPad and iPod touch had the auto-join enabled, hence no problems.
Mac had no problems either.
Hi
Turn your router off for 20 /30 seconds when it's back on go to settings on iPhone down to reset Reset network settings After reset enter your router wireless key.
Cheers

Ps if you are a long way from router buy a wifi booster like tp link.
Go to website for your make of router check for firmware update.
I did find a second DHCP server in my network, only apple devices had problems with this server. I disabled it and everything works again.
I was having the same issue !
Now my issue is to every Wi-Fi network I connected to I got both the options
Auto-Join
Auto-Login
By definition and working Auto-Login should show up only for Captive networks like when you go to a hotel and you are presented a page to register for their WiFi
So I Performed a Restore as NEW using iTunes
And instantly that fixed the issue
Now if you have a backup of your data and then restore the backup you will get the same issue in your Wi-Fi !
The solution -> Forget your WiFi and Reconnect ! It should work !

I completely took WiFi off made my device forget it and re-enter password, but I also allowed my phone to search for WiFi which always annoys me but since doing that I’ve not had an issue just a shame apple haven’t suggested anything or helped one bit ! Really angers me
Thanks for replying! There was an iOS update today and what do you know it has fixed whatever problem there was as have had no issues since 😀
Go to Settings -> Wifi -> Tap the " i " with the circle around it for your connected Network and Toggle Off Auto-Login

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities.
I see that you are having an issue with the Wi-Fi connection dropping on your iPhone 8 Plus. I definitely want to make sure that you can use Wi-Fi without any issues, so I'm happy to help.
I suggest going through all of the steps in this support article: If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won’t connect to a Wi-Fi network .
Let me know if you have any questions.
Have an amazing day!
Anyone in the uk with Sky Q? There lies your problem...I have recently discovered that its not just my iphone 8 dropping wifi...its also my mac and my smart tv, and the wife’s iphone 6. Looking at sky q forums on the issue, there’s just as many complaints as on this thread!
I had problem with the WiFi and in general loading issues! I had the loading or the spinning wheel all the time next to the WiFi symbol and I tried all the methods here and they didn’t work!
If you see that spinning wheel, I ask that you look at this website
For me doing steps 1,2 and 3 fixed it, at least as of now! I also flushed the RAM memory out!
