Garageband AU not working after High Sierra update

I Updated to High sierra and now all of my Garageband Projects are giving me a warning that AU cant be loaded, or needs an update. I Did all of my keyboard tracks with Sonivox 88 ensemble and now they won' work.

In The preferences menu I cant even select or deselect enable Audio Units!

Any Help would be great, and yes I've done the delet info.list stuff already

Thanks

I did check and I cannot uncheck the AU plug in box in the preferences. I believe the issue does fall with Apple/Garageband, but don't you think they would catch that in their testing?

I don't know where to turn to resolve this. All of my AU plug ins are up to date...and they don't work. I do have one plug in that can work as a stand alone app and it works fine.

I assume this is the same error you receive?

YES! YES! YES!....It works....Thank God!

I haven't tried all the failing plugins I have but I did try a few and they worked

Thank You so much for finding that, I had actually started the dreaded process of porting everything into WAV today to send over to pro tools way before I usually do and you and this fix saved my ***!

Thanks again and I will pass it on...

I am So grateful you can't even imagine

It's to enable Audio Instruments, Amplltude is a plugin for an Instrument.

If you installed Amplitude after You have used garageband the you need to rescan plugins....see here on how to

https://www.sweetwater.com/sweetcare/articles/my-newly-installed-plug-in-isnt-sh owing-up-in-garageband/

After you have done that choose a new track, select guitar, or whatever your using, midi or wired guitar.

Then on that track down in the bottom panel to the left choose plugins, amplitude, and it should show up.

I never had an issue with Amplitude as it was working even after the update, as far as windows goes I have never had any luck with windows and plugins...always too much latency and driver issues for me...

Good luck and if amplitude is working standalone, then rescan and choose it as a plugin after adding an appropriate instrument track

Good Luck

Hi MBH,

I did have to reload that fix patch every time I quit and reopened GB. I'm just going to keep GB open so I can mitigate the time reloading the fix patch. At least there is light at the end of the tunnel.

I'm a novice at the whole music creation and playing thing. Just playing around with some basic tunes and my Midi Keyboard, MB Pro, and my AudioEngine speakers. Feel free to include a link if there is something of yours that you've shared on the Web.

Cheers!

I wonder if it's because I just left the patch on an unused track, thats how I did it..

I created a track, and put the patch on the track and left the track in the project. Is That how you did it?

I will be sharing soon, I have been in music since the early 80's even had a song in the Top ten....Where are you now by Synch.....re relased as Where are you now with Jimmy Harnen and Synch after the band broke up...

If I could only go back and redo everything in my music years I would in a heartbeat...You could Try to look up X Country on Youtube, But most of my "Hayday" was before all of this Tech stuff...LMAO

Let me know if leaving it on a track works for you!

Same troubles here too. They won't fix this issue because they are too dumb and lazy... Apparently Logic works with third party plugins. This type of stuff makes people want to quit making music and I'm certainly sick of trying to fix software incompatibilities quite frankly. Ill just go buy Pro Tools again for the third time.

GA-songs, I hear your frustration....But the patch posted above fixes the issue, just leave the plugin on a track in the song.

I also use Pro tools, but I find in general doing the gruntwork in GB then moving everything over to PT works best for me, YMMV of course

And until I stupidly updated to High Sierra, I had not one issue with a plugin, In fact I like working withing GB so much I have thought of just moving to logic and ditching PT alltogther, I honestly think PT is a little overrated, but I understand why everyone likes it.

Good Luck, and I think because allot of GB user aren't using 3rd Party plugins this issue is kinda under the radar.

As an example Amplitude is a pretty popular plugin and strangely I have no issue using that, but other PI I have, go figure....

Honestly probably because theres not enough people ******** about it, after all anyone who uses pro tools looks down on garageband users, And I can completely understand why, because Garageband is a free DAW with so many great functions and features, of course the fanboys of Reaper, FL, Protools will **** on it.

If half these people did there grunt and demo work on it, they wouldn't think that way and would be complainig to high heaven.

I even thought by posting here, someone from Apple would at least acknowledge the issue, after all I was that close to bucking up for Logic...but not now...

I'm gonna call at the beginning of next week and see if we can at least get it addressed. After all if it was facetime doing this their would be a worldwide uproar...lol

I just updated my MacBook Pro to High Sierra v 10.13.2. I then tried using plug-ins (that didn't work before I updated) with Garageband and Mac High Sierra v 10.13.2 and it worked perfectly. Apple makes a point to say that 10.13.2 does fix some USB audio bugs. Finally!!! No longer a need to use the Two Notes patch or get ticked off. Yippee!!

Thanks Apple.

Dec 12, 2017 3:20 AM in response to Zoppo

Well, I'm not sure what to do as I am still having the issue. I'm on 10.13.2 but on my mac mini.

I did notice that my sonivox plugin worked without the two notes patch and was thrilled, but when I tried to reopen the project it said the plugin was incompatible.

Not sure what to do, should I reinstall GB? If i do what happens to my saved projects?

Thanks for any advice
