Iphone 7 plus blurry screen when using phone mode

When I try and use my phone normally the screen comes up very blurry, you can see it is the most recent contacts black and red, missed calls, etc, just no way to do anything with the screen. I can use Siri and call that way but the other is not legible at all. Anyone have suggestions?

I had this same issue and i was able to resolve it. I double clicked the home button and closed all apps by swiping them to the top. Then i reopened the phone app and it was normal.

I had to help someone with this yesterday. I was working on this remotely, so I wasn't able to see what was going on, but the problem seemed to be caused by a corrupted record in the Recents list - two calls had been combined into one.

We solved it by:

1. Closing all the apps as discussed in Re: Iphone 7 plus blurry screen when using phone mode

2. Powering off the phone and restarting

3. Clearing all the Recents history - see Delete the call history on your iPhone - Apple Support Note that we had to clear all the history - it wasn't possible to just clear the probably corrupt entry as this just recreated the fuzzy screen.

I have found it happens when there are too many pages left open in the background. Just because you push the home button, doesn't mean the pages close. From the blurry phone screen, push the home button twice, one time right after another. You should be able to see several pages still open. Swipe up from the bottom of each page to close them, then try getting your phone screen again. It is a little bit of a pain in the butt, but easier and faster than trying to reset or even reboot. It worked for me.

This happens on my iPhone 8+ and on my wife's as well. I spoke w/ apple support about it yesterday and they suggested I update to 11.1. I had not noticed that a rev past 11.03 was out, my bad. Tried the update and had some crazy "update failed validation" because I was "not connected to the internet" non-sense. This while I could still surf... That bizarreness continued for about 5 hours then went away, after which the 11.1 updates for my iPhones and iPad worked. So far 1 day after the 11.1 update the dreaded blurred out iPhone app has not recurred. As this appeared to start with IOS 11.0, I hope that it has finally been killed off. TBD

A friend of mine just came to me with this problem. While I believe the issue is related to the IOS V11 update(s), the remedy for her phone was a simple one. She is notorious for leaving apps open as opposed to closing them. Over time, she'll have 8 or more concurrent apps open, sometimes much more. This gobbles up iPhone memory and the problem manifests itself via a blurry phone display. Once we closed all of her apps, she reloaded the phone app and has been good ever since. It has only been a few days, and the issue hasn't resurfaced, so I can't say that this is the magical cause/fix everyone is seeking, but so far so good for her. I hope this is helpful to others.

Same here. It's happened 3 times on my i8plus. It is not a hardware issue/natural blurred screen that I can tell.

It generally happens when I attempt to go to my voicemail page. It appears to be the same blurry backdrop apple created to be used behind the options menu when you swipe up from the main screen. When it appears overlayed on the call options screen (without obvious cause) it locks me out of all my voice call options. All my other screens work to include texting while this occurs.

Restarting the phone and/or closing the call app do fix it. It is still a very annoying problem however.

My problem also - currently on 11.0.2 and this started happening in the past week or so. Nothing out of the ordinary happened with the phone not dropped or apps updated. The blurry phone screen just started happening and can be fixed by a reboot. Problem is I now have to reboot too often to use the phone app on my iPhone. Very annoying.

Will try updating to 11.0.3. Surprised Apple is quite on this.

have now gone since Nov 5 and no problems. started on her new Iphone 8... every 1-3 days...

back up data

restore to factory settings

install latest ios complete install.... not bits and pieces

then let itunes do the install of files, photos, emails, messages etc from backup

no problems to date. 28days. (lets hope this continues) Iphone 8

It worked for us. plus one more thing no proof, but I also make sure my other half does not have too many open windows....
