corrupted external (encrypted) apfs drive on High Sierra (17A365)

Im having trouble accessing data on my external USB disk - it just won't mount...

I get the prompt to unlock, which I do, but it does nothing...

(I should note that I don't actually remember being prompted to convert or encrypt this drive - it was originally non encrypted hfs+)

so Ive tried to access the data manually.

here are the commands I've tried:

so I try to unlock:

I have a disk with the same situation, but it's an external one. It was encrypted with File Vault, and now is completely unreadable.

It doesn't mount, doesn't unmount, doesn't eject, and also freezes Disk Util whenever connected.

When plugged, it asks for the password twice (which is the same I use in a couple other external disks), and doesn't log in. 😟

Did you try using disk utilities and trying First Aid. Be sure you select "view all" or the drive might not be visible.
