iPhone System taking up storage space

After erasing all content my 16gb Iphone shows 10gb taken by System.

SAY IT LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK

I have the same issue. Mine says system is using 24.02 GB of storage. Can somebody please explain this to me?

Yes I deleted Whatsapp and all its data. Reinstalled without a problem. But there's no change in the space taken up by 'system'.

I don't have the FB app installed.

Just upgraded to 11.4.1 with no change to mysterious System storage taking 38% of my total storage. Apple has not anything.

Also I am not using some beta version of iOS. I am using stable version of iOS. When Apple charge premium for devices , I expect quality.

So 4982 people who marked this problem have a hardware problem.. not a software issue that needs fixing

What you are suggesting is a tactical(Temp) fix and what I am after is a strategic(Permanent) fix.

I tried the restore method and guess what ... I don’t have enough free space to restore iPhone from iTunes backup. That’s with 18 gb free space
