iPhone 6 very slow with IOS 11 update

After receiving IOS 11.01.1 on my MGCT2LL/A1522 (iPhone 6), my phone is super slow. Apps hang, then close (like the Starbucks app), my purchased music would just stop in the middle of a song, then I had to close the app and re-open.

In general, everything is very slow to respond, and I have rebooted twice.

Any suggestions

Many apps unresponsive. Phone also running extremely warm and battery draining very quickly. Turning off background app refresh makes no difference whatsoever. Hard reset has no effect. I have 78GB free.

I don’t expect perfection. But I also didn’t expect Apple to release a new iOS that works great with new iPhones but that would make my phone so slow and buggy that it’s now a pain to use.

The truth is Apple isn’t making supporting older phones much of a priority. Their attitude is, “Oh well of course your phone is slow. You need to buy a new one every year or two.”

It is that treatment from Apple that is causing me to consider changing to android.

I don’t know how you think this this is “common sense”. I work in IT and it’s best practice to test and STRESS test any software realise before implementing into an Live environment. To also say iPhone 6 won’t work is some what ignorant? What make you say that? Is my iPhone 6 obsolete? Where was that communication from Apple?

Apple wouldn’t releas a software especially an iOS update for a device that is no longer supported. Where is the logic behind that? They may as well also release it for iPhone 3 also and put in the T&C’s “You may upgrade but functionality of your device on this iOS release, may not work. Sorry we haven’t test it”!

I’m typing this on my iPhone 6 and I instantly regret upgrading my iOS. Poor show you and even poorer for Apple.

Absolutely agree everyone I know that has iphones have this issue everyone who doesn't never seems to have to put up with this crap - I have even taken the drastic step on my 6plus of deleting everything and resetting up as a new phone - it's still as bad - we have 3 iphones in the home and I suspect very soon we will have no iPhones.

It's all very well people saying post in feedback Apple doesnt read the forums - Well perhaps if they came out of their iCloud these issues would be sorted! - as feedback or calling the support is a waste of time that makes not a jot of difference

Not for me awaterman8 😟 I tried that, but my iPhone 6 went slow after few days again. Not even DFU restore helped (with iCloud restore). I also brought my iPhone to APR for HW check, but they didn't find anything - they said that it is not an HW failure and that I am the first whoes iPhone 6 went slow after update to iOS 11. To the end I also switched of Siri suggestions in Search and Look Up and other services, but it did not help either.

Reset works. Do it twice though as aparantly users are finding this to be even more successful.

HOWEVER: You have to ask what setting is causing the problem. After I did a reset everything was great again. Super springy and responsive. UNTIL Facebook. After launching Facebook and allowing notifications and location services the phone went straight back to its sluggish, unresponsive app crashing self again.

I'd definitely recommend a double reset. BUT, try uninstalling Facebook (and Messanger) and redownloading after a restart first as it may just save you having to input all your wifi, credit cards and other settings again.

Let me know how you get on.

Well I have the same performance drop in such a simple things like typing this text up to playing the same game after iPhone X release. And all iOS updates makes that lags and freezes more and more.

Later today I’ll try revert back to osx if it does not help then I’ll consider to try out s8 gadget. Thx god I’m not so rooted to Apple stuff except of MacBook maybe.

PS: I’m using iPhone 6 with the latest iOS installed

Apple stopped signing ipsw for ios 10.33, so we cannot restore un signed ipsw through itunes ! So Apple is doing a trick here guys "Its upgrading old devices to ios 11 and making them slower, so user will automatically seek for high end devices" They don't even test update on Iphone 6 before releasing an update. ? They know that its slow and its clearly a business trick.

Problem NOT SOLVED - remove that green check mark.

iPhone 6 is still slow - phone app hangs, doesn't open, rings with a blank screen. Message typing is very slow to respond. Anything that requires touching the screen (duh...) is slow.

I've kept this phone meticulously up to date and every time I do an update it slows - noticeably.
