Yahoo email not working in mail app with iOS 11

My yahoo email is not updating the inbox after I upgraded to iOS 11.0.1. The junk (spam) email still works but not the inbox. I have removed it and rebooted several times. The yahoo mail app works fine but I do not want to use it permanently. Any thoughts?

I've been having this issue for the last two iOS updates so I find it hard to believe it's a Yahoo! issue. Something Apple changes seems to be causing issues with the ability to get email. Not Happy!

Was anyone having this problem using Yahoo Mail Pro? I signed up for it like 10 years ago and kept forgetting to cancel it, but once i cancelled it, it seems I my mail barely updates and it takes forever to get messages. I guess i lost the push function when i cancelled pro, but not sure if this is the root cause of my messages not showing up.

My email started malfunctioning about a week ago so around 1 December. I’m curious if the purchase of Yahoo by Verizon has anything to do with it. Being devils advocate here. It’s seem to start after that acquisition was approved and perhaps there’s been some server changes. I don’t think Verizon would want to fight with Apple but rather maybe changing the addresses of the servers. At any rate, because Verizon also have cell phone service it would be an all parties best interest that they work this out and quickly.

I have the same problem. There is no problem receiving yahoo mail on my 4th generation iPad. No problem with my android phone either. Just with the new iPad Pro running the latest version of iOS 11. I met with Best Buy Geek Squad on 12/15/17 to discuss the problem. They told me that it was a known problem and that Apple and Yahoo were working to resolve it. I hope they find a fix soon because this is really not acceptable.

Yeah, that works for a little while then it stops working. It says “checking mail” but just spins. It’s bull crap that this is happening. It’s probably yahoos way of forcing us to use their app. I’m just going to switch to gmail. Either that or it’s apples way of forcing anyone with an older phone to upgrade.

I am having the same issue with Yahoo email, except that I am still on iOS 10.3.3. This started about a week ago. There are many people complaining about this on the Yahoo help community forums, though the moderators are marking the threads as solved despite acknowledging that their "engineers" are working on it. If I delete the Yahoo account in iOS mail settings and set up a new account, it works for a while before invariably failing to download emails again a few hours later. This is very frustrating.

Yea 1 week ago is about when it started for me when I logged onto my laptop and saw 17 unread (important) emails. No idea what happened here but does not seem iOS related, I had no changes on my phone prior to this not refreshing. I did the imap/pop thing 2-3 times, deleted accounts 2-3 times, reset phone, updated software and same issue. The imap manual setup can get it to work for 2-3 hours then it fails again as noted. Really frustrating. I hate yahoo but I am pretty committed to it after using for 10+ years. Anyways I set up a forwarding to my gmail from yahoo and it works great, I'll be using that feature as I slowly change over everything to my gmail over the next year or so.

TL:DR - yahoo ***** switch to gmail and forward your yahoo to your new gmail in the meantime.

This seemed to have worked for me (for the time being):

Open the Yahoo mail webpage from your desktop. Go to Account Info (click on the gear icon/help in the upper right hand corner and Account Info is at the bottome of the popup menu). Once you're at the Account Info page, on the left hand side click on Account Security. Turn off "Allow apps that use less secure sign in." If it's already off, turn it on and see if it makes a difference. Finally, for good measure, remove your Yahoo mail account from your iPhone and reinstall using the default settings.

This has allowed me to fetch email on my iPhone for about 6 hours now, the longest stretch in days. We'll see if it still works tomorrow...
