Album cover won't show in Finder

Album covers of mp3/aac files won't show in Finder after upgraded to macOS 10.13.

All of my 3 Macs have the same issue.

I believe it's not a special case but a system bug....or it's not?

Anyone experiencing the same problem?

It's so obvious, I don't know how could this happen...

And, yet I don't know how to report the issue besides the old feedback site, which I've reported several bugs and no one cares...

MacBook Pro with Retina display, macOS High Sierra (10.13)

What worked for me is opening a file in iD3 editor by PA Soft changing an arbitrary metadata field and re-saving the file. Only then did the cover show up. This isn't a convenient solution though because batch changing and re-saving doesn't fix the issue and I have to change and re-save each file individually. I've got over 10,000 tracks in my collection so currently looking for a better solution.

Beta 10.13.2 still has the same issue. Come on Apple!

If you toggle icon previews on and off in finder view options you can see that OSX thinks the icon preview for mp3's and m4a's are the generic music notes icon instead of the artwork. I don't even understand why they would fiddle with this function to the point of breaking it. This feature has been working fine for years. And don't get me started with what they did to audio units.. ugg

Well, indeed I’m a music passionate, I even create my own music and add my artwork to every track, using Meta.

It doesn’t show up in Finder but everything is Ok on iTunes so it doesn’t bother me so much as to you guys.

I understand your frustration and believe me, I also respect your opinion but honestly, I also believe Apple will fix it and this issue/bug will never make me downgrade my OS, it’s a minor bug to me and I can still live with that and work as usual, it didn’t stop me to work.

It might be a minor bug to you, but it is sure a huge upset to me.

A nasty scar on the back might be nothing, but it's on the face.

And I don't see how downgrade to Sierra can stop anyone to work.

As far as I concern, there's no reason to stay updated at 10.13, because it has nothing really matters but a lots of shameful bugs!

I've seen something like that pop in and out a few betas back but up until beta 2 I had all my prior saved mp3's still showing artwork. After beta 2 of 10.13.2 every single file on my computer audio related shows the same generic icon. If I associate mp3's to open with Vox for instance, I can briefly see the vox icon behind the generic one if I toggle icon previews off and on in finder view options, but it then stays on the generic icon. Something weird is going on here that drives me crazy that I can't workaround somehow. I wonder if everyone has this same issue or any 10.13.2 beta users have normal previews? This just seems so basic that you have a hard time believing it doesn't work. This has worked since years and years ago just fine.

After 10.13.2 beta 3, I could save new audio files and have cover art show, or re drag cover art into an old file via a tag editor, and have it show up in finder. But dam if I'm going to do that with hundreds and hundreds of songs that can't really be batch written. The existing files still show a generic icon. But unless it's a fluke, it is going in the right direction. If only I could shock the old ones to show somehow. Then again, like the above comment, it may be a fluke.

I am having this issue with MP3 art as well. Downgrading to Sierra seems pointless at this time. Is there any other harm that can be done? -or- Is this just an annoying bug? I am a podcaster and I use the art to tell the finished files from the in progress files. I just have to be more careful to release the correct file. Most of my work is done on WAV files anyway, which never showed the artwork anyway.

My Workaround: Open the MP3 file in Music Tag Editor and check that the art is there before I release the podcast.
