Album cover won't show in Finder

The newly saved ones stick after reboot but the older ones still don't but if you go to large icons view they do show. So it's almost fixed. I really am stumped by this whole problem. Another beta tonight (b4) so we'll see.

I wonder if there is some way to batch mod all audio files in a tag editor without changing any tag info or artwork and just add something insignificant to shock these to refresh? I'm guessing not since it would likely overwrite all the unique info.

This is the most powerfull Tag Editor I have ever seen and used. And the support of Barry is a class of it's own. If he don't know how to shock the files for success, then maybe nobody knows, I guess. Good luck.

What I did was drag all the mp3 and m4a files at once into an app called Music Tag Editor and then just hit "save". Then a couple minutes later all the artwork appeared in the normal "details/list" view in finder with the unfortunate side effect of having all the dates changed to the current date which means no sorting by original date order. But otherwise it is sticking through 10.13.2 beta 4 now.

That will fix it...until you reboot the computer. After that the com.apple.MediaLibraryService doesn’t restart and the problem persists. Unfortunately, unless you want to reinstall iTunes every time you boot up the computer, that doesn’t fix the problem.

I have this too.. since the upgrade to High Sierra.. all my music files in finder have no artwork.. I reinstalled iTunes but that lasted a day ..but strange how music files on my old usb sticks I use in the car are the same when opened in finder.. but fine on the car head unit display...lets hope they fix it very soon..or we wait for the next update to fix and reck something other thing..

For the moment no fix is possible , or just reinstalled iTunes at new reboot of the mac .!! very frustrating is you reboot all days ... So if i believe , 13.13.2 will fix it see the comment of mrw_6462

Well this is a little frustrating. They’ve released updates to iOS, watchOS, and tvOS this week. However, still no update for macOS which is what we have been told fixes this bug that has been irritating everyone in this discussion for nearly 3 months now.

Just a guess here...is 64x64 the size you had set previously? If so, the old bugged art may still be cached and hopefully when it refreshes then it will work normally. I don’t know of any way to force a refresh. Waiting a few days should cause a refresh though from my experience.

Everything's working fine here. Never lose any artwork from what was added before. I've just noticed that it was not working for new albums when I added the artwork with any of the available metadata editors, since High Sierra upgrade, now it is fixed. What happens if you guys add the artwork now?

I still say give it a few days and see if the cache clears. When we had the reinstall iTunes work-around earlier the same thing happened - some artwork still bugged, but eventually it would clear (until a reboot of course). It was always the artwork of the files I had looked at recently that would remain missing. Once they refreshed they would come back. Give it a few days (and don’t keep looking at those same folders over and over). I don’t know what triggers the cache to refresh, but once it does I’m guessing all will be fine.

This issue does NOT appear to have been completely fixed. I've just installed 10.13.2 and the artwork for most mp3 and m4a files appears in Finder, but it does NOT appear for ANY flac files. Maybe this is just another example of Apple not supporting flac.
