Album cover won't show in Finder

Album covers of mp3/aac files won't show in Finder after upgraded to macOS 10.13.

All of my 3 Macs have the same issue.

I believe it's not a special case but a system bug....or it's not?

Anyone experiencing the same problem?

It's so obvious, I don't know how could this happen...

And, yet I don't know how to report the issue besides the old feedback site, which I've reported several bugs and no one cares...

This issue has been fixed in 10.13.2 (confirmed at my Mac mini 2014, two MacBook Pro 13'' 2015).

If you're experiencing some fixed, some not problem, it may relate to the system cache, try some tool which can rebuild the cache files.

I'm changing this topic to solved.

After all still very disappointed that Apple took so long to fix such a obvious yet (should) can be fixed easily problem.

Considering the huge bugs happened to macOS, iOS, watchOS(extremely slow), really frustrating.

I’m having this issue as well. Updated my iMac to High Sierra and the cover art disappeared. I thought I had solved it by reinstalling iTunes but no, after working for a couple of days it disappeared again. The latest update didn't solve anything.

On my MBP, though, it’s not happening. I did a clean install of High Sierra there, though.

I’m waiting for the release of Onyx for High Sierra. Maybe some routine maintenance will fix it.

In my case, I cannot even downgrade, because sierra is completely gone from the store. And I don't have any OS backup.

Funny enough, two days ago on the chat with a tech, he sends me apple tutorials to downgrade and the link to sierra or the installer to create a bootable USB none of them was working - the guy felt quite embarrassed.

btw, my case too, "was escalated to engineering" two days ago. Today a tech called and amazingly they always start as they know nothing, then one points them to read the f*** case comments, then they will start sharing bit by bit what they have found on the case.

Overall, a real shame; the release, the support, and the price one pays for the product.

I don’t believe this is an iTunes issue.

However iTunes can be uninstalled on the Mac, it’s just a LOT more complex than the usual drag the icon to the trash bin (because macOS considers iTunes to be integral, I guess). However it can be done, and I have uninstalled it before while troubleshooting a problem on an earlier OS (Yosemite, I believe).

Try these steps here:

Thanks for sharing.

Despite many other bugs like while installing apps from MAS the icon in launchpad shows a weird white frame, this album issue is so obvious and irritating...

I also heard some cases that mp4 files cannot be opened in 10.13...

I reverted to 10.12.6 and have no tend to upgrade to 10.13 unless this issue is resolved..

Although it may not mean anything to Apple, I'm really frustrated this time...

Well, indeed I’m a music passionate, I even create my own music and add my artwork to every track, using Meta.

It doesn’t show up in Finder but everything is Ok on iTunes so it doesn’t bother me so much as to you guys.

I understand your frustration and believe me, I also respect your opinion but honestly, I also believe Apple will fix it and this issue/bug will never make me downgrade my OS, it’s a minor bug to me and I can still live with that and work as usual, it didn’t stop me to work.

It might be a minor bug to you, but it is sure a huge upset to me.

A nasty scar on the back might be nothing, but it's on the face.

And I don't see how downgrade to Sierra can stop anyone to work.

As far as I concern, there's no reason to stay updated at 10.13, because it has nothing really matters but a lots of shameful bugs!

Everything's working fine here. Never lose any artwork from what was added before. I've just noticed that it was not working for new albums when I added the artwork with any of the available metadata editors, since High Sierra upgrade, now it is fixed. What happens if you guys add the artwork now?

Thanks Apple, I knew you would be fixing the issue.
