Apple TV 4K audio out of sync

This solved it for us -- disable Dolby ATMOS in the sound settings of your LG TV. The AppleTV 4K doesn't support it (yet) and apparently it's causing a conflict.

Today, LG released a firmware update for my OLED65E7P that fixed the audio sync issue. You might want to try installing the new firmware update (04.70.07).

I had the same problem with my 4K (tvOS 11.2.1) and C7 after I had turned on the “Smart Sound Mode” on the C7. Turning it off fixed it.

I have an LG OLED55E7N TV, and when using Dolby Vision, I get the sound out of sync with video - not 3 secs, like the OP, but very obvious - maybe 1/4 second. It's watchable, but really annoying. Switching to 4K HDR, rather than Dolby Vision, and the sync is perfect.

Dolby Vision is better than 4K HDR, and tvOS is evidently trying to encourage you to use that, e.g. if you aren't using it, and go to the video settings, there's a special menu option 'Enable Dolby Vision'. So I hope this gets fixed - this TV is fantastic, and is really nice with the Apple TV 4K, except for this issue.

Adding another point - the audio sync issue definitely goes away if I set the Apple TV 4K output to Dolby Vision 4K at 24 Hz. So, this is a good work-around for movies. But definitely need it to perform as well, at 60 Hz!

On your LG, if you go to Settings --> All Settings --> General --> About This TV (you have to scroll down) ... at the top of that screen, you will see the software version number. It should say 04.70.07 if it is the latest version. This version is scheduled to roll out in different regions over the next few day, so it may not have been pushed out to you yet. No sure.

I was having the audio sync problem prior to installing this last night. Once installed everything is fixed with Dolby Atmos on and Apple TV 4K outputting audio at "Best Quality Available."

My son and I watched several 4K shows today, and the audio is syncing perfectly on the E7.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I have a Polk Signa S1. Ever since I hooked up Apple TV 4K. It would lose audio all together when I would switch to HDMI 1 for Apple TV 4K.

Then status led lights would flash Green(Dolby) & white (Optical.)

I didn’t know what that meant. After turning off the Dolby Atmos setting.

It now works.

Yay! Firmware 04.70.06 on OLED55E7N fixed the issue for me.

I have had the same issue for a while now, last night I opted in, and download the latest beta update which cleared this up for me.

I have vizio p65 UHD dolby vision and the sync is way off on iTunes 4k. the only thing that worked was going into manual settings on apple tv and setting it to 24FPS instead of auto or 60. apple tv can't figure out or can't handle settings higher then that.

Try disabling Dolby Atmos sound in the LG TVs audio setup. This fixed my sync problem and still let me keep Dolby Vision enabled.

Got the update for my E7 last night.

All problems are fixed.

Same issue for me. 2017 LG C7 TV, new Apple TV 4K. Using a certified Monoprice HDMI cable.

Audio lag is minimal when output is set to stereo. Lag is significant when Dolby Digital 5.1.

My audio is going into the TV via HDMI, then down to a SONOS Playbar via optical.

Seems notably worse with the Apple TV 4K than what I was seeing with my previous Apple TV (1080p).

Really hoping the rumor of a firmware update, on either side, is true.
