Apple TV 4k WakeUp Issues

I've got the new AppleTV 4k and am experience wake-up issues. When I click the remote, the AppleTV light comes on and the TV automatically switches inputs over to HDMI-2 where the AppleTV is plugged in. The problem is, that then no picture comes through despite the AppleTV being on.

Oddly enough, when I look at the TV source selector, it shows previews of each input and I can see a preview of the AppleTV screen showing that there is, indeed, a picture... but when I switch to the input, nothing comes through.

I switched back to the AppleTV 3 with tvOS11 and it works fine. But AppleTV 4k seems to have severe wake-up issues with being able to reconnect the image to the TV.

Currently the only solution I have is to unplug the power from the AppleTV, then plug it back in (while leaving the HDMI cord alone). If I do a reboot, then the picture comes up fine...

Any tips? Faulty unit? Thanks!

I have an Apple TV 4K (2 actually). One is connected to my 55" Samsung 4k tv and the other to my 40" Samsung 4k tv. I had this problem also and calling Apple got me nowhere. Exasperated after a month of trying to figure it out, I remembered that I changed a setting in my 'Video and Audio" settings. There is a setting called 'Chroma' which is set to 4:2:0. I changed this to 4:4:4 because the description said that the 4:4:4 setting "improves clarity, but requires high-speed cables." I had high-speed cables and who doesn't want a better picture? When set to 4:4:4, the signal sent to my Samsung is enough to wake the Samsung, but with no picture. I've tried different cables to no avail. My Apple TV only behaves as expected when Chroma is set to 4:2:0. I know this because I clicked on 'Reset Video Settings' and the ATV reverted back to 4:2:0 and everything works again. I can wake it from sleep even when I'm already watching my Cable box and it comes on immediately. I can even restart it with the remote again.

I'm having the same issue but mine will not wake at all. No light or anything. Called Apple and did a full reset but it's still doing it. Could this still be a hardware issue?

Do you mean the 4th gen? The 3rd doesn't run TVOS

Have you tried another cable and port?

Tested on another TV?
