After installing iOS 11 including 11.0.2, while waking up the iPhone 7 Plus from sleep mode, the phone wakes up in landscape orientation and does not rotate or auto-rotate come what may. It is only after multiple presses on home button or turning the phone randomly multiple times, it rotates to portrait screen.
This is too annoying and frustrating, that even after two updates, the issue remains as it is.

I have the opposite issue. My iPhone no longer flips to landscape since downloading iOS 11.0.1. Very annoying to watch videos in portrait. Can this be fixed? Also my phone freezes A LOT!

My iPhone 7 Plus has exactly same issue as you describe. It happened since iOS 11 and it still there on iOS 11.0.3.... hope Apple can fix this bug ASAP... it really annoying...
